Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said Sunday morning that he is close to striking a deal with the Obama administration on abortion provisions.
"We are close to getting something done," Stupak said in an interview with MSNBC.
Stupak said he engaged in talks late into the night on Saturday night.
The possible deal would focus on an executive order that would specify there would be no public funding for abortions in the healthcare bill.
"We're close but we're not there yet," Stupak said.
Democratic leaders said Sunday they have the votes on healthcare reform, but Stupak said until there is a deal struck, they don't have the votes.
Stupak said "there were eight of us" in the negotiating room with us, all of them no votes.

Stupak the Stupid is definitely a little light in the upper storey.
The abortionist leadership is wearing him down with talks, and keeping him from conferring with any of his colleagues who might (if they got together) help each other get some backbone to oppose this bill.
To oppose evil, we must be “as wise as serpents” (as the Bible says). We can’t depend on dummies like this guy Stupak. He’s simply a fool.
The pro-lifers will sell you out every time.
HA HA HA, if Obama gives him what he wants the pro-choice crowd will not go along with it.... unless....
all of them know it will just be a flat out lie. It will be an executive order with a “wink”.
But if he’s as open to unenforceable or even unconstitutional outs for supposedly supporting prolife positions, then really how genuine—even if loud and newsmaking—is that support?
That's just what I was thinking...nothing but political theater. They are laughing up their sleeves at the American public.

Executive Ordered one day an unordered the next sounds like a deceitful plan there.
That is EXACTLY what he will do. One minute after the bill passes, he will sign another EO to rescind it.
The outcome of any vote by Congress on health care is irrelevant since Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution does not specifically grant Congress the power to regulate health care! Therefore the so called legislation on its face is Unconstitutional! The people are not bound to comply with an Unconstitutional act of Congress! This is a power regulated to the states per the 10th Amendment!
It is the reason why Idaho and Virginia have passed legislation blocking federal health care from being illegally imposed on the citizens of those states by reasserting their 10th Amendment rights and 34 other states considering similar legislation! This is the point people need to hammer home with their Congress critters!
Hopefully we will be laughing all the way to the polls to vote in real patriots.
Surely this stupid fool knows that any EO will be rescinded one minute after the vote.
The already extremely lucrative baby murdering industry IS GOING TO BE FEDERALLY SUBSIDIZED as well if Obamacare passes today.
Stupak isn’t known for his intelligence. This is the only issue that he could get any type of recognition for that doesn’t take a lot of smarts. I dont doubt that he is pro-life, but he conveniently used the issue to promote himself.

I am NOT Catholic but didn’t the RC church come out and say an Exec Order wouldn’t cut it with them?
