They’re terrified- it’s the creepiest thing to watch.
Yes, dear Meg33, continue to pray. Stupak has always caved, but he’s fooling himself, not God.
The thing that I don't understand is this: if a court (probably have to be SCOTUS) decides that the mandatory purchase of health insurance is un-constitutionality, does that throw out the whole thing? or just that part of it? And, what are the impacts overall if the "mandatory purchase" part was indeed removed?
Mark Levin’s lawsuit - his group already wrote a draft complaint - was focused on the “deem & pass” procedure, which it looks like will not happen. But there’s multiple grounds for other suits, e.g.,
1) The individual mandate exceeds Congress’ enumerated powers.
2) The turning of health insurers into government utilities is an unconstitutional Taking without just compensation. (See scholar Richard Epstein on this one.)
3) Depriving me of the ability to make life-preserving health care decisions via insurance violates substantive due process (OK, that one is from me, but I figure if litigants successfully use the idea of Substantive Due Process to justify killing people, I ought to be able to use it to preserve my Life - which along with Liberty & Property, cannot be deprived without due process of law.)
Yeah, just saw it. It was great.
I pray your feeling is right.
No vote today would be an answered prayer.
I wonder if Pelosi would ever come close to her 217 if we had a Rove, Ryan, and Tom "The Hammer" Delay working in combination?
Personally I think that they have been bluffing all week long, and of course, the media trips all over themselves rushing to broadcast whatever lies and bluffs are being fed to them.
barin = brain...sheesh!
thanks.
Forget about the breathing holes. :)
If I still drank- I would have started with strong bloody mary’s by now!
As it is- there will be plenty of strong iced tea!
I can’t find the link to Karl Rove tearing up the leftists....maybe I don’t have enuf coffee in me yet! Can someone direct me? Thanks
A way out? State Constitutional Amendment? read more at:

Constitutional amendments.
Of course, there is one additional way for states to win a fight about the constitutionality of health-care legislation: Make it unconstitutional. Article V of the Constitution gives state legislatures the power to require Congress to convene a convention to propose an amendment to the Constitution. If two-thirds of state legislatures demand an amendment barring the federal regulation of health insurance or an individual mandate, Congress would be constitutionally bound to hold a convention. Something like this happened in 1933 when Congress proposed and two-thirds of the states ratified the 21st Amendment, removing from the Constitution the federal power to prohibit the manufacture, sale and transportation of alcohol. But the very threat of an amendment convention would probably induce Congress to repeal the bill.
I think what he means is they don’t have more than one vote to pass - they want to pass it with a plurality of votes - like by 220 or some other higher number.
Yeah... they want a plurality. You’re right about that.
Crap!
Time to drink AGAIN!
