I’m close enough to have some coffee first.
Good grief- the count is all over the place...I think we’re going to learn the final deal at Stupak’s 11 am press conference.
There were multiple threads and extensive discussions here last night on this. It is complicated and no one knows. Pelosi may have reached a deal with Stupak which will get her up to 12 more votes, Stupak has a presser at 10:00. However, the deal they reached may disqualify this bill from reconciliation and we are back where we started. Moreover, up to 30 baby killing Dems say they are standing firm. If Pelosi deals with Stupak, they vote no. They left Pelosi's office angry late last night.
Pray & go to DC today!

KommieKare BE GONE!!!
Amen and Amen
In the end the dems will vote with Pelosi. This is just about getting stuff for them...
Yes. Amen.
Also, contact these vulnerable members, and remind them that no matter what they were promised by the now failing obama regime, they will never collect. A vote agreeing to the proposal now on the table, is a guarantee that whatever promise they were pledged by the White House, is going to be widely broadcast both in their home districts, and elsewhere within the government, so they may never be appointed to the positions promised, except on a recess appointment.
And that is worth about as much as a pack of wet matches in a storm.
The wrath of Khan shall pursue them.
If this thing goes down, my prediction is we will see droves of Dems switching over to the GOP, just like what happened in 1994.
> Any CongressCritter who claims is still undecided is simply waiting to see what payoff they will get.
While I agree that is the likely scenario, another is that they don’t want a Democrat bullseye on their back as being the one who killed Obamacare. They want their cake and to eat it too. Perhaps they want the bill to go away, without having to actually be the one to vote it down. Face it, politicians are basically cowards, which is why they are very dangerous.
LOL! Indeed.
And to quote Bobby Lewis..”I couldn’t sleep at all last night...I was tossin n turnin...”
Tokyo Rose
Mata Hari
There’s a long history of broadcasting defeatism.
If Deemoncrats to vote the bill in, I don’t know how they think they’ll go home and live there. I don’t know how they think they or any of their familise will retire peacefully in the US, having served her up on a platter, ‘hypothetically speaking, of course.’
All this means to me is there are a few dozen Dems waiting for their big payoff.
Irrelevant. It is unconstitutional for the Government to take control of any private sector industry, period. It is also unconstitutional for the Feds to mandate a citizen to purchase anything, period.
I don’t care how many times they change this bill, the underlying premise of it is completely unconstitutional. Any person elected to Congress or the Senate either knows this or has never had any intention of adhering to their oath of office.
Well, my spelling isn’t too good this am in that prior post.
Sorry. THere was an escaped ‘to’ in that post and it’s ‘families’
If my rep, Jim Matheson, votes yes on this, it sure won’t be from my lack of trying.
I’ve called his office every ten days since the house passed their version of Obamacare to make sure he was voting NO...which he was. Until his brother was nominated to the federal bench a couple weeks ago, that is.
That said, I emailed him several hours ago. Among other things I told him this:
“There are many good reasons to oppose this vile bill, and I imagine you’ve heard them all, I can give you a reason that you haven’t heard. Until now.
Sir, any fair and impartial reading of the Senate bill makes it clear that the desired end result is the dissolving of private insurance companies, within a few years. This much seems assured. And that is of no moment here. It creates an unintended consequence, as so many ill conceived legislation does.
Insurance company shares are among the most widely held in pension funds, via institutional buys. Both public and private pension funds hold these, as insurance is one of the most regulated industries in the country. They are regarded as “safe” for this reason, thus a wise pension holding.
But what happens to these pension funds if these insurance companies go out of business? (Hint: PBGC=taxpayer bailout) And then what happens to the non-pension shareholders? Well, they are to be made whole by the “insurer of the insurance companies.” Anybody remember who that is? Let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?
Ah yes...AIG. Yep, that AIG. The company for whom the taxpayers are the guarantors of their funds and payouts.
Who else but DC politicians could come up with legislation to reduce an industry’s profits, or to drive them out of business completely in order to ‘save’ taxpayers money? Only to realize, after the fact, that the entities killed off will have their losses borne by those same taxpayers!”
sometimes, you can’t make this shit up
Hey, Congress...
I fully agree they are cowards - all the more reason to remove anyone from office who has assisted in getting any of these bills to this point. Either through support or their own silence and indifference.
