IDF official: Neither Israel nor PA wants more conflict; police chief: This will not lead to third intifada.
.
After Hamas declared an official day of rage leading to clashes between Palestinians and Israeli security forces across Jerusalem on Tuesday, the violence seemed also to spread to other parts of the country.
Assailants in the central Israeli city of Jaffa hurled rocks at two public buses, cracking the back window of one of them. Rocks were also thrown at a truck near Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev in the south and at two vehicles in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Abu Dor. There were no casualties in any of the incidents.
A senior Israel Defense Forces officer said that despite the outbreak of violence, neither the Palestinian Authority nor Israel was interested in seeing a renewal of conflict. Everyone understands that we cant let this region fall into unbridled violence, he said.
Dozens of Palestinians fought with Israeli police earlier Tuesday in Jerusalem in response to Hamas call to protest Israels consecration of an ancient synagogue in the city the day before.

“U.N. Drops Muslim Brotherhood Figure From ‘Terrorist Finance’ List”
Mark Hosenball
SNIPPET: “The U.N. Security Council has quietly dropped Youssef Nada, a prominent financial and diplomatic representative of the Muslim Brotherhood, from an international sanctions list directed at curbing the activities of alleged terrorist financiers. The delisting of Nada, by the Al-Qaida and Taliban Sanctions Committee, was announced by this official notice posted on the Security Councils Web site. In addition to Nada himself, the notice declares that two businesses associated with him, Waldenberg AG of Liechtenstein and Youssef M. Nada & Co. GMBH of Vienna, also have been removed from the U.N. sanctions list.”
SNIPPET: “In an e-mail, Comras added: “Even though Nada may no longer be involved in funding Al Qaeda, he has made it clear a number of times that he will continue as a major financial supporter of Hamas . . .””
SNIPPET: “In a statement, a Treasury spokesperson said that the U.S. has supported “the removal of those individuals who are no longer appropriate for listing pursuant to that specific regime.” But the spokesperson added that Nada remains on the Treasury’s U.S.-only sanctions list.”
