US military behind Haiti quake, says Innsbruck scientist

Innsbruck political scientist Claudia von Werlhof has accused the USA of being behind the Haitian earthquake in January, it emerged today (Tues).

According to a report on tirol.orf.at, Werlhof said that machines at a military research centre in Alaska used to detect deposits of crude oil by causing artificial earthquakes might have been intentionally set off to cause the Haitian earthquake and enable the USA to send 10,000 soldiers into the country.

Ferdinand Karlhofer, the head of the Innsbruck Political Science Institute where von Werlhof works, has slammed her comments. He said such conspiracy theory had no scientific basis and her claim would damage the reputation of the Institute abroad.

Nice to know becauase reading in the more recent years might convince you to believe in global warming or man made climate change as well

since when did you come up with the idea that a patented item has to be working??? It has to original or substantially improving an already existing device. It cannot violate the know laws of physics. But nothing in patent law requires a working model. In fact when Gordon Gould first filed for his maser there did not exist a working device

Moreover a quick search for the company that is the assignee (APTI, Inc) turns up a company deeply involved in HAARP.

So these devices do work. What is your point???

I don’t know if they work, or not.

I guess my understanding of patents was flawed. I thought they had to have a working model.

I thought it MIGHT SEEM given these patents, that there was some . . . credence to some of the wild claims about HAARP.

Just speculating. I’m an ignorant layman about such.

Nah you don’t have to have a working model. What you have to show is developmental advancement ( ie you actually have to be tinkering with something in the lab). One bio med device company I worked at had a slew of patents. Never really got the stuff to work as conceived but hey the sold the patents to keep going another two months.

Anyway alot of the cyclotron stuff and the electron plasma interaction patents come out of a lot of work from the 50s onward where folks have been trying to improve various uses for energized particles. For example proton phototherapy to combat cancer tumors, improvement of deposition techniques to allow for smaller architectures on semiconductor wafers, linear accelerators ( think SLAC), and the ever ellusive ion propulsion motor. Energetic plasmas exists naturally and the folks doing this type of research try and emulate what our sun already does so well.

It is an interesting and difficult field of study but the undereducated treat it like voodoo and decide that it is being used for thing that it is not.

Seems to me, if we had a satillite based laser system, there wouldn’t be any need for HARPP.

Or do we?

Really. Why devastate a poor county which we then have to spend $$$ to rebuild? Beyond stupid to even say out loud.

She's not a scientist, contrary to the editor who wrote the intercoursing headline:
Innsbruck political scientist Claudia von Werlhof... said that machines at a military research centre in Alaska used to detect deposits of crude oil by causing artificial earthquakes might have been intentionally set off to cause the Haitian earthquake and enable the USA to send 10,000 soldiers into the country. Ferdinand Karlhofer, the head of the Innsbruck Political Science Institute where von Werlhof works, has slammed her comments. He said such conspiracy theory had no scientific basis and her claim would damage the reputation of the Institute abroad.
Too late, your institute has a lousy reputation now, because it has been revealed how low your standards have been. Thanks DaveyB.
