Two reasons for a dying Detroit: Monica Conyers convicted felon; Rep. Rashida Tlaib rabid Marxist
The Collins Report ^ | March 17, 2010 | Kevin “Coach” Collins

Detroit is the future of America’s Democrat controlled cities.

Last week Michigan State Representative Rashida Tlieb and Monica Conyers, Detroit’s former City Council President, showed us the ugly face of doom for Detroit. After fifty years of unbroken Democrat control, Detroit is quickly dying.

The 32 year old Tlieb, whose biography says she is the oldest of 14 children born to Palestinian immigrants, had the nerve to offer a bill to extend Worker’s Compensation benefits to illegal aliens!

Tlaib whose name means “a person in need of something” in Arabic, the language of her heritage, represents the Southwest portion of Detroit, a city whose mayor and local newspaper say is suffering from third world like 50% unemployment.

How people can come to America and decide they know best how our tax money should be spent and doled out to people who have no business even being in this country, totally evades explanation. Rashida Tlieb is stabbing American workers in the back, but Detroit’s robotic voting Democrats will re-elect her anyway.

During the same week former City Council President Monica Conyers was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison following her admission of bribe receiving because she sold her vote on a city contract.

Conyers is represented by a lawyer supplied to her free of charge because she is “indigent” despite being married to John Conyers the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

At her sentencing she yelled about “not be made a scapegoat” and “I don’t feel I should go to jail for something I didn’t do” despite her plea of guilty and the allocution of guilt that goes with such a motion. At the height of her rant Conyers added, “I may be guilty of extortion, but I never took a bribe.”

Is it any wonder Detroit is dying?....

The clock is actually now ticking louder and louder. Anyone who has looked at the situation in Detroit knows it is coming to an end. Who can save Detroit? The federal government? The State of Michigan? Private industry? None of these entities can or will step in with an answer because there is no answer but to shut it down which is what Dave Bing wants to start doing. Sad, very sad.

As always, the blame should go to a majority of voters who continue to send these clowns back into office election after election. If they don’t care enough to elect good people to do the job, then why should anyone else care about the well being of Detroit?

Detroit regularly has 90% turnouts of all the registered voters.

No one believes any of that.

For the most part no one in Detroit votes ~ just a handful of people who know how to enter the data.

Child's play.

Some heavily democrat districts of Philadelphia regularly get over 100% voter turn-outs (and I am not making this up)

It's so simple. All this started with the $4.50 a gallon GASOLINE PRICE ! ! !

Nuclear power, hydrogen gas production thereby, HYDROGEN POWERED AUTOMOBILES ! ! !

Detroit could make $BILLIONS$ retrofitting existing engines to burn hydrogen.

And guess what. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. STUPIDITY ALWAYS WINS IN THE USA ! ! !

Let's build F'in WINDMILLS INSTEAD !

Here’s another symptom:

Below are actual lines from the head of the Detroit Public Schools, Otis Mathis. Not casual notes either, these are verbatim from mass emails to parent and teacher groups.

“If you saw Sunday’s Free Press that shown Robert Bobb the emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools, move Mark Twain to Boynton which have three times the number seats then students and was one of the reason’s he gave for closing school to many empty seats.
...
Do DPS control the Foundation or outside group? If an outside group control the foundation, then what is DPS Board row with selection of is director? Our we mixing DPS and None DPS row’s, and who is the watch dog?”

There are another 6 or so paragraphs/sentences (strings of words?) that go about like that, with a plea at the end to contact the media, the pastors, and the “Superintended”.

He “graduated” from a Detroit high school with a 0.98 GPA, and then went to Wayne State, the only public college in Detroit, a city he’s never left. He spent several years there suing over their basic English proficiency test, required for graduation.

The lawsuits didn’t work, so he stayed for 15 (fifteen) years and then quit. After he was elected to the school board, in 2007 Wayne dropped the requirement, so he “applied for” his degree. He now holds a BS in “Criminal of Justice” (his words).

His current approach to fixing Detroit consists of several ideas:

First, reinstating the recently ended “social promotion” program of giving diplomas to kids who couldn’t read, because not graduating calls attention to a student’s illiteracy. The program was ended by the emergency manager appointed by the state to make sure changes were being made.

Second, fighting any outside oversight. There had been talk of the state taking control of the schools, but Mathis didn’t feel the 25% graduation stat was a good enough threshold. He was asked at a forum if every single student failing out would justify oversight, and answered no.

Third, he’s vigorously pursuing additional federal money. Detroit already spends $13,000 per kid per year, vs. a national average of $8-9000, but apparently its teachers’ unions are the best place to throw that “stimulus” education money. There are 90,000 students left in Detroit, and the $100 billion schools are supposed to “compete” for should just be given to a place that really needs it.

Think of the efficiency ~ 1 guy writes in the total, everybody else gets to go to the beer joint early!

The leftist organization ACORN is exposed, fails, and changes its name.
I wonder what the name of Detroit will be ten years from now.

This is an important question that I should send to Rush.

Why isn't Detroit full of artists, writers and musicians?

Tlaib’s father, Harbi Elabed, spoke with Detroit News rogue columnist Charlie LeDuff about his daughter’s political career, but let it slip that when she ran for office, she didn’t live in her district.

Rashida Tlaib is of Palestinian descent and grew up on the Latino side of the district.
