I Will Not Comply

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m not planning to recognize such a result as legally binding. I’m not going to pretend to obey any dictates from federal health-care bureaucrats that have never been authorized by a constitutional vote of both houses of Congress. I will not submit to any extra-constitutional order to dismantle the consumer-driven health plan I have set up for my employees.

I will not comply. If the government tries to make me comply, I’ll sue. And I’ll win.

This is not (yet) a banana republic where constitutions are seen as inconvenient impediments to the rule of the despot. This is not (yet) a European-style welfare state where some powerful parliament can exercise legislative, executive, and judicial power all in one stroke. This is a constitutional republic in which government power is divided, its exercise is strictly limited, and our rights are not some generous gift of those in power, to be withdrawn at their whim, but are instead a permanent check on their power.

>Sadly, though, I’m not so sure that a real American would win, even with such a strong case. The socialists will do their best to stack the deck, and as long as we play in their playground (the courts), they have the advantage.

Then how about we play the game on our own terms where we have the advantage... like places bullets fly.

The government stealing ones earnings and private healthcare is a dramatic event.....unless one is on the receiving end of the loot.

Then of course one could wonder what all the fuss is about?

CSM, do you have a reference for the part of the bill where it states a sunset on private policies? Trying to wade through this monstrosity is like trying to wade through a sewer.

Thanks,

I won't comply. I won't buy gov insurance and I won't pay the fine. If abortion is funded in any way I won't pay federal taxes either. I will file as a conscientious objector.

Virginia isn't going to comply.

“I’m seeing a lot of “FMCDH!” type bluster above, but none indicate _how_ they “won’t comply”. When your cardiologist says “so ... you don’t have any other symptoms?” you’ll d@mn well better have either full coverage or a fat bank account - trust me on this one.”

Not all are cowards like you...unfortunately for you, you will die many deaths before your time is over.

On November 22, 2009, the day after the Senate reached 60 votes to cut off debate and proceed, I informed my “independant” Obama-voting girlfriend that if this legislation caused me to loose my insurance (high deductible, with an HSA, which does not meet the approval of this legislation), that I would:

* Refuse to buy a replacement congressionally-approved and mandated health insurance policy
* That I would also refuse to pay the up-to $3600 per year fine for failing to do so
* That I would also refuse to pay the up-to $100,000 fine for failure to pay the up-to $3600 yearly fine
* That I would also refuse to surrender peacefully to serve the up-to the 5-year prison term for doing so
* And that my only recourse would be to either flee the country, or wait to be dragged away in chains.

I also told her that I held her partially responsible. She broke off our relationship that afternoon.

I don’t think lefties think past the rosy promises to consider the screwing we’re all in for.

That's a topic I won't touch online. I hope the socialists know how weak they are and how strong we are in comparison. I'd prefer to avoid another civil war ... if they're smart enough to back down before they get knocked down.

Or, 'deem' your federal taxes having already been paid, in full.

“I hereby pledge that if the bill passes, I will reduce my salary from my corporation to the greatest extent possible, thereby reducing my employer and employee witholding obligations to the greatest extent possible. I will maximize any tax deductible payments suchas HSA and pension contributions. I will also reduce my discretionary spending and gasoline usage as much as possible, thereby depriving both California and the federal government of sales and gasoline taxes.

If enough of us do this, the economy WILL double dip and the Democrats WILL lose Congress and the Presidency this year and in 2012. “

I’m with you. The only thing worth dying for is my liberty. I will be NO ONE’S slave.

Awright tough guy, how do you intend to not comply?
Will you actually cancel your health insurance?
Are you really ready to risk not having coverage when your cardiologist suddenly says you need a quarter-million dollars worth of heart surgery - and you need it _this_week_? (Hence my personal example given prior.)

If you’re not actually going to cancel your coverage, then don’t go calling people cowards.

If they pass this bill, you may actually see the whole house of cards fall. Then there may not be any healthcare.

>That’s a topic I won’t touch online.

You know, I don’t think that they do. It seems to me that there is a mindset, especially among the high-ups in government [all three branches], that [their] law is absolute... and that gravity itself would cease to exist if they were to decree it so! (Yes, a little bit of an exaggeration, but you see the point, no?)

>I’d prefer to avoid another civil war ... if they’re smart enough to back down before they get knocked down.

See above; I’m of the opinion they think that “loud and annoying” Tea Party gatherings is the _most_ that we can do. {And to a degree they’re right: note the town-hall meetings where “signs aren’t allowed” and we complied... i.e. ‘we’ tend to play passive and by-the-rules, so when they start changing the rules they ‘know’ we’ll comply because we’re passive and won’t stand up for ourselves.}

I’m not questioning that the system may self-destruct.
I’m questioning the sincerity of the bluster of some.

I don’t call people cowards...just cowards. Your limited view of the world is based more upon fear than honor...hence the title.

I am liberated friend, I have three terminal diseases...I don’t have that fear of death you do. I can tell you this, it is truly liberating.

Do you really think the only option to not comply is to terminate your health insurance? Get some imagination. Put the fear stuff aside.
