This is misleading. They WANT Obamacare - without the abortions. Give them that and they will fully endorse the rest.

Sadly, this will be ignored by the holier-than-thou-halleluju-amen crowd who have gleefully posted a half a dozen threads expounding on how the Catholic Church is in league with the communists and Satan.

From the letter:
ACTION: Contact your Representative and Senators today by e-mail, phone or FAX.

• To send a pre-written, instant e-mail to Congress go to www.usccb.org/action.

• Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at: 202-224-3121, or call your Members’ local offices.

Contact info can be found on Members’ web sites at www.house.gov & www.senate.gov.

MESSAGE – HOUSE:

“I am pleased that the House health care bill maintains the longstanding policy against federal funding of abortion. On the other hand, the provisions on abortion funding in the current un-amended Senate health care bill are seriously deficient and unacceptable. I urge you to work to uphold essential provisions against abortion funding, to include full conscience protection and to ensure that health care is accessible and affordable for all. I urge you to oppose any bill unless and until these criteria are met.”

MESSAGE – SENATE:

“I am deeply disappointed that the current un-amended Senate health care bill fails to maintain the longstanding policy against federal funding of abortion and does not include adequate protection for conscience. I urge you to support essential provisions against abortion funding, similar to those in the House bill. Include full conscience protection and ensure that health care is accessible and affordable for all. I urge you to oppose any bill unless and until these criteria are met.”

WHEN: Votes in the House and Senate are expected at any time. Act today! Thank You!

The catholic church has no one to blame but themselves for this and the blood of the dead babies is on their hands. There was time for them to step up and tell the freakin catholic lawmakers that voting for ABORTION is a mortal sin and against church teachings - and publicly excommunicate them. But in their grand scheme of taking care of poor people by STEALING from the rest of us who go to work every day and pay more and more taxes, they cheered universal healthcare - not studying how this affected other countries around the world. Now they’re sorry - a little too late I’d say. Quite a few of them will spend eternity in hell for what they’ve done.....and they deserve it.

What are they going to tell granny and gramps when their Medicare and SS are cut?????????????

First they came for the Unborn, granny and gramps are next.
The Catholic church was silent as millions of Jews went to the gas chambers during hitler’s reign.

Code Red” - House Target List on Health Care

The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

Congressional Dems on Twitter

And here are toll-free numbers we can use to call any Senators or Reps.

At the first number below you must wait through a tape recording urging you to tell your Rep or Senator to vote “yes” for the health care bill. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.

When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senator’s answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!

We need to use these toll free numbers that have been set up for the health care/ BO supporters and illegals to use! After all they are FREE!

They didn’t stand up for the Jews when Hitler started slaughtering them.

The Catholic bishops did everything they could to elect Obama via their contributions to ACORN and the like. Now they make this big show of opposing his pro-death agenda. This is disgusting.

Amen to THAT! I have written to Cardinal George taking him and the USCCB to task for their abysmal failure on health care “reform.” I reminded George that the primary responsibility of a Bishop is to the well being of his flock. Even without the abortion provisions, this measure is a huge attack on freedoms of their flock. “Health” “care” that will destroy our democratic government and replace it with a totalitarian regime is an enormous injustice. To ask future generations to pay for an inefficient system is stealing from the children. To ask us to pay health care for freeloading illegal aliens is allowing the government to steal from us. Furthermore, a government that determines whether you get health care will eventually decide social values, whether it intends to, or not. (George has not replied, although the diocese acknowledged receiving the letter.)

The Bishops’ statement is once again ineffectual. ANOTHER epic failure.

GENOCIDE: the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.

Applies to the UNBORN.

I believe the Bishops — so now they will act to force the Catholic Health Group that supports the act to change their position, right? No threats of sanction? Forbidden to take communion? Maybe excommunication?

I agree. I suppose I should have asked WHO did not stand up for the Jews?

Sadly, this will be ignored by the holier-than-thou-halleluju-amen crowd

Good to know that at least on Free Republic one can surf without encountering the tired old liberal anti-religious slurs one finds ubiquitous elsewhere. [/sarcasm]

I don't suppose Catholics have ever been called "holier-than-thou" by anyone?
