“The guy in charge was an older guy who had been appointed to the board, had no real estate, construction or architectural experience but he sure did love being in charge! “

Oh yes!

LOL!

So your next door neighbor can open “the church of the child molestor” right next to your home, and your OK with that?

Good luck selling.

What? That doesn't make any sense.

They going to apply this to birthday parties, neighbor get-togethers, T-ball team cook outs, Super Bowl parties, visits from grandma, etc, etc?

Sounds like a good tar and feathering are worthy of these idiot “public servants”.

I have a neighbor who has groups over at her home. At least once a month her guests would block our driveway so that I couldn't leave my own house. I asked politely several times for her to ask her guests to stop. She refused. The next time it happened, she had an unexpected guest: a young fellow with a snappy blue uniform, a pistol, and a book of tickets. He asked her guests to move their cars. Problem solved permanently. Did I mention it was a Bible study?

The Bible says To render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. And Caesar's centurian says that if you keep it up, your car will be towed.

And Caesar's centurion says that if you keep it up, your car will be towed.

Remember, NOBODY had complained but the official himself, and it had nothing to do with parking! Sorry you had trouble with your neighbor, though.

Running a church and having a Bible study are two totally different things.

ok ... on the surface this seems outrageous... However.. would you REALLY want your neighbor running a church or anything else very regular out of his house filling up the street with cars ect?

My neighbor is Bahá'í so it is not a hypothedical question for me. And the answer is that no one around here has a problem with it.

Zoning is certainly not always law, and often even when it is, it is not always enforceable.

This would be met with a big, roaring belly laugh in the faces of the perpetrators of the ban, an admonition to them to stay off of, and away from my property, and a telephone number where they could reach my lawyer, should they be so ill-advised as to attempt any sort of enforcement.

Talk about dumb...sheesh!

Gilbert’s city vision:

Gilbert is a Town that flourishes as a forward-looking, family-oriented community with a small town atmosphere. Gilbert has the resources and desire to grow and develop as a quality community. Its well-educated, concerned residents want to manage the future.

Gilbert’s web site:

Demographics...looks like one of the wealthiest communities in the Phoenix area, low median age.

Same thing happened in San Diego, CA. The city said it was a church, because they met weekly and mentioned Jesus.
Eventually, the city backed off but it took awhile.
The problem started when the neighbors complained about the parking issue.

It’s no different. If it is in my home I can have 2 or 200 people for just about anything else. This is not China where you must get a government license in order to worship as you wish. They have no rights to bust up these meetings. Period.
