The late Howard Zinn would be very proud of his protégé, Matt Damon.
The actor has long admired the lefty historian, a man whose anti-American impulses were so profound he could cast the United States’ participation in World War II and its aftermath in an unflattering light.
Damon’s latest film, Green Zone, rewrites history regarding the Iraq War in a way Zinn’s acolytes will cheer.
Never mind the facts. Green Zone keeps the “Bush lied, people died” narrative front and center while creating an alternative reality as warped as that of Inglourious Basterds.
But at least Quentin Tarantino fashioned his film so Jewish people could extract much deserved revenge against their Nazi captors — at least on film. Green Zone exist as liberal wish fulfillment writ large....

Better late than never — a bang-bang pulse-pounder predicated on the Bush administration's deliberate fabrication of WMDs in Iraq. Paul Greengrass’s expertly assembled Green Zone has evidently been parked for some time on Universal’s shelf. Had the movie been released during the 2008 election season, it might have been something more than entertainment. Still, Green Zone, which could have more accurately been titled Told You So, Jerk-Off!, does gain some coincidental topicality for opening just days after the Iraqi elections and the release of Karl Rove’s new book, Courage and Consequence, even if the zeitgeist has moved on, with the unwinnable war now in Afghanistan and the Bush disaster barely a memory.
They’ve got nothing else. Their president, the “one” they said we’d been waiting for is about to lead them to an electoral defeat of Cannae-like proportions. So, what’s left? Drag out the “Bush boogeyman” again.
Durka, durka, jihad, jihad.
Ask a lefty “Bush lied” type this question:
If Bush were so corrupt as to “lie the country into war,” why wouldn’t such a corrupt president at least TRY to FABRICATE evidence of Saddam having lots of WMDs? Why not? What more was there to lose?
You can also say to a lefty, “I thought Bush was supposed to be a mental defective....yet he orchestrated 9/11 and lied the country into war. Was he Forrest Gump or Lex Luthor?”
‘Bush fabricated 9-11’ and ‘lied about WMDs’. Yeah, none of the conspiracy rants make any sense because if you are powerful enough to destroy the WTC and 4 airplanes of passengers, you can at least produce some radioactive materials.
