Much has been written of the recent Tom Hanks remarks to Douglas Brinkley in a Time magazine interview about his upcoming HBO series on World War II in the Pacific. Here is the explosive excerpt that is making the rounds today.
Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as yellow, slant-eyed dogs that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to whats going on today?
Hanks may not have been quoted correctly; and his remarks may have been impromptu and poorly expressed; and we should give due consideration to the tremendous support Hanks has given in the past both to veterans and to commemoration of World War II; and his new HBO series could well be a fine bookend to Band of Brothers. All that said, Hanks comments were sadly infantile pop philosophizing offered by, well, an ignoramus.....

Hanks & Spielberg had movie night last night with Hussein. Both of these lib wh*res made lots of money off exploting WW2 heroes and astronauts. Hanks is scum.
I wouldn’t believe anything Hanks has to say.
Much like Zero, he is a flat-out liar.
He will go down as fast as Tom Cruise.
I think we simply went to war to kill them because they attacked and killed us and thousands in the pacific rim.
No one cared about their “democratize” on Dec 8th.
Not sure I trust the journalists on this one...
Uh, they did have different gods and they DID want to annihilate us- or, at least, our ability to interfere in the “Greater Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere”. We did not want to annihilate them because they were different, but because they attacked us. I don’t think Halsey would have said “When this is over Japanese will only be spoken in hell” if the Imperial Navy had not attacked Pearl Harbor and the Philippines.
F-— Tom Hanks and the high horse he rode in on. He’s just another Hollyweirdo who enriches himself by portraying American heros while at the same time trashing them. I think of that little turd Matt Damon who often plays CIA agents or the like, making millions from his portrayals, yet then mocks these people either within the movie or to the press. Hypocrytical, subversive, cowardly scum, all of them.
keep in kind where Tom grew up.
Apologists Central.
Why does everyone think what comes out of the mouths of those in Hollywood is so important?
I couldnt care less, what Tom Hanks thinks or says.
No, we didn't Tom. We didn't care about them until they attacked us, and it became clear that their aims included our domination. THEN,because we didn't want to live under their domination; it became apparent that we were going to have to fight them to the finish. So we did.
What an idiot this guy is.
Hanks comments were sadly infantile pop philosophizing offered by, well, an ignoramus.
That is a kind and generous characterization of Hanks and his verbal diarrhea.
I wouldn't p*ss on the man if he were on fire in my front yard.
Since when do we take any of these hollyweird jackasses seriously? Hanks is like any other movie whore. Just keep me entertained, boy. That’s your job. Not unlike watching a monkey perform in the street.
And Tom Hanks once said that anyone who supported Prop. 8 on marriage in Calif. was “un-American”.
So 53% of people in the liberal home state of the entertainment industry are “un-American”, and must be Neanderthals and all of the other unprintable epithets used to describe anyone who believes in marriage as a man and a woman.
Kind of sounds like GWB. Typical liberals. Confuse and pervert history, so as to abet your demented "cure" for all the ills of the world...
Let's all just sing "Kumbayah"
That last Damon movie was absolutely horrible. Boring
Tom Hanks, and his wife are communist so there you have it..To bad because he does have talent unlike the rest of the commies in Hollywood with big mouths..I will never spend another dime renting any of the movies he is in..
At the risk of insulting those who are FReepers, I believe that most creative people are a bit bonkers to begin wiith. Example: A friend of mine is an artist. She once went to Florida after the Challenger explosion. She came home with a chicken bone and insisted this had to be a bone from one of the astronauts. Um....ok....
When they become socialists, they really go off the deep end. This same artist is a rabid Obama fan...particularly supports this alleged “health care reform.” I’ve tried to explain why this is just so wrong, and she just won’t listen. All she “knows” is that if this thing passes, she won’t have to pay insurance premiums anymore. Sigh!
