If Democrats ignore health-care polls, midterms will be costly
Washington Post ^ | March 12, 2010 | Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen

Posted on 03/11/2010 5:52:03 PM PST by NCjim

In "The March of Folly," Barbara Tuchman asked, "Why do holders of high office so often act contrary to the way reason points and enlightened self-interest suggests?" Her assessment of self-deception -- "acting according to wish while not allowing oneself to be deflected by the facts" -- captures the conditions that are gripping President Obama and the Democratic Party leadership as they renew their efforts to enact health-care reform.

Their blind persistence in the face of reality threatens to turn this political march of folly into an electoral rout in November. In the wake of the stinging loss in Massachusetts, there was a moment when the president and Democratic leadership seemed to realize the reality of the health-care situation. Yet like some seductive siren of Greek mythology, the lure of health-care reform has arisen again.

Leave them alone. This is their “Profiles in Courage” moment. LOL.

Second, the country is moving away from big government, with distrust growing more generally toward the role of government in our lives.

I would LOVE to believe this.

I'm afraid we are fast approaching the point of critical mass between those who wish to be self reliant and those who would rather keep DIPPING their hands in the former's pockets.

Wow, nice one.

From old-line, middle-of-the-road Democrats.

This will be additional spine for those "moderate" dems to find a way out of a "yes" vote.

However, Ahab will have his whale...

When they return to their district on the next break, be prepared with hot syrup, poultry feathers and do what needs to be done. Sending them back to DC in a wheel chair would also be something to consider doing to these “Progressives/Socialists”.

Do unto them what they are going to do to the folks of the Right when they think they can do it.

On June 15th of this year, Martin Lees, Secretary General of the Club of Rome gave a speech to UNESCO- social engineers in which he admits that:

“In October 2009, we will focus at our Annual General Assembly in Amsterdam on “Environment, Energy and Economic Recovery” focused on the key issues for the Copenhagen Climate Conference. In February 2010 we will tackle Cluster Three, on International Development. In April 2010 we will focus on Cluster Four, Social Transformation and in July 2010, on Peace and Security. The Program will conclude with a major event in November 2010.”

The Program will conclude with a major event in November 2010. What event?

I meant ot add that I also have concerns about the November election. I’ve never felt so unsettled before. They don’t care what we think, even call us names, flaunt the power we gave them in our faces, it’s like some kind of dictatorship.

Nothing has been more disconcerting than to watch Democratic politicians and their media supporters deceive themselves into believing that the public favors the Democrats' current health-care plan. Yes, most Americans believe, as we do, that real health-care reform is needed. And yes, certain proposals in the plan are supported by the public.

However, a solid majority of Americans opposes the massive health-reform plan. Four-fifths of those who oppose the plan strongly oppose it, according to Rasmussen polling this week, while only half of those who support the plan do so strongly. Many more Americans believe the legislation will worsen their health care, cost them more personally and add significantly to the national deficit. Never in our experience as pollsters can we recall such self-deluding misconstruction of survey data.

Hey! Michael Moore says it's a winner!

“DIPPING their hands in the former’s pockets.”

The former is our pocket. The U.S citizen who produces a product and pays taxes as punishment for producing and providing income for others.

A good 80% of government employees need to be ended and unions in government need to be banned because they are a monopoly.

If Dems didn't put so many people in public jobs and on the dole, they'd never get elected.

JFK's fault. He got the ball rolling in 1962 with Executive Order 10988.

The Fall of the House of Kennedy

We need a conservative president with the cojones to overturn 10988 and fire them all when they go on strike (like old Calvin Coolidge).

“...midterms will be costly...”

They’re forgetting those “brilliant” independents who always pull it out for the Democrats.

Obama has blinders. Hopefully, he’s leading his party to devastation, not the country.

This is astounding considering the source is the WaComPost.

Even if this Obamacare bill does go down in flames, the swamp needs draining.
