Rep. Paul Ryan says that Democrats are ready to ram a "shell" health care bill through the Budget Committee, on which he serves as ranking Republican member, to use as a vehicle to impose national health care.
In a phone interview with TAS Thursday afternoon, Ryan said that he expects Democrats to begin the complex process on Monday, under which they would have the Budget Committee approve a phantom bill by midnight, which they will then send over to the Rules Committee. At that point, the Rules Committee will strip out all of the language in the phantom bill, and insert the changes to the Senate bill that Democrats have negotiated.
"They don't have the votes right now, but they're creating the vehicle so that they can airdrop in whatever changes they want," Ryan said.
He said that Republicans are outnumbered 2-to-1 on his committee and don't have the votes to stop the bill there. Democrats will also be able to prevent Republicans from offering any amendments, but GOP members will be able to offer "motions to instruct" the Rules Committee, that Ryan said will be used highlight problems with the "unprecedented" step that Democrats are taking.
He said he expected Democrats to dust off last year's health care bills from the Education and Labor and Ways and Means Committees, to use as the vehicle for reconciliation changes.
He also warned against focusing too much on the reconciliation process in the Senate. "Reconciliation is a distraction," he said. "Once the House passes the Senate bill we have the massive new entitlement."

Yeah, I’m a contractor, Sheese, this really p1zzes me off and as a contractor I need to deal with furloughs also and still stick to the contract, which is never really a contract when you deal with almost any government. And in Maryland we are spoiled with all of the Federal contracts and locations like SSN and NASA, etc. Another reason why MD is soo blue.
Dammit. Anyway, It seems that some sanity is starting to seep in even to the folks that I deal with.
The GOP Beltway is reluctantly rallying around Slick Willard. Perhaps, the best way to stop Slick Willard is to let ObamaCare to pass. Then the GOP candidates will make repealing ObamaCare into an issue for the next few election cycles. With repealing ObamaCare as the #1 issue among conservatives, Romney will be hard pressed to spin support for RomneyCare and opposition to ObamaCare. It would reinforce Slick Willard being an opportunistic flip-flopper like Fox News Sunday & Don Imus. Romney said RomneyCare was wonderful piece of bi-partisan work.

Thank you!! Very well said, mo. I’ve been irritated by this person before, who happens to be a relative. I’m the parent of an Iraq war vet and they won’t acknowledge it, but my son sacrificed for THEM! This person doesn’t appreciate the sacrifice our military folks make to keep their sorry asses safe and sound at home. Needless to say during all the time my son was in harms way, this person didn’t offer one word of support for him nor our family.
I wonder how long God will put up with it. How many evil governments or religions? Clearly, ours is an evil government. How long? Today, we think 4 years is long. In history, 100 years was long. Or 1000 years. We reap what we sow. Are we in a long period of the destruction of America? Is it our demise? Are we near the end? Every generation thinks it’s the worst, and it’s their end. Is this the worst? Who knows...?.....

Truth of the matter is that they will begin to withhold taxes for healthcare, but, no benefits for 2 years. Gee, its healthcare on the layaway plan. Who wants to bet they will spend the money people pay into this doonboggle? They yell and scream about this so-called crisis, but, it won’t even take effect for 4 years. And, geez, look at all the people who die daily because they don’t have healthcare.
November is a long way off, however, without any actual benefits available, I don’t see that it would be that difficult to overturn. This, of course, is just my opinion.
They don’t care if they lose the next election. They will have started their programs by then and they know the Republicans will never undo them or take them away from the people once the ball has started rolling. They are willing to fall on their swords to establish this socialist program for the future of the party in the decades to come.
We’ve got to keep them from establishing a beachhead and turn them out as well.
