Myth #2: Same-sex “marriage” is an “equal rights” issue.

Gays already have equal rights.

Any gay man can marry any unmarried woman he chooses, and no straight man can marry another man.

Civil rights don't extend to preferences.

I have a friend who wants to marry a hamster, and another who wants to marry his blowup doll.

Well, maybe not, but ....

Exactly! Traditional marriage is equally available to heterosexuals and homosexuals. Homosexuals (most anyway) freely choose not to enter into it, to pursue a different lifestyle that precludes marriage.

I think debunking the “civil rights issue” lie is key to winning people over. Most Americans are very passionate about civil rights (as they should be) and the homosexulists know this and use it to manipulate people.

Exactly, they already have the SAME MARRIAGE rights as anyone else.

And also, heterosexuals (ie normal people) have limits on who they can marry. They can’t marry their brother or sister, they can’t marry a parent, they can’t marry cousins, they can’t marry people already married, they can’t marry anyone who doesn’t want to marry them, they can’t marry more than one person at a time, they cannot marry animals, or inanimate objects.

Plenty of restrictions normal people have to put up with.
