Maybe I’m the only FReeper who thinks this way, but I’m glad that Massa resigned. Massa had voted against Obamacare in November, but he did so because the bill wasn’t liberal enough (Massa supports a Canadian-style single-payer system), and not running for reelection he would have been the likeliest Democrat to switch to AYE. I understand that his resignation reduces to 216 the votes that Pelosi needs, but the way things are going someone else would have resigned soon, anyhow.

When Pelosi can’t get to 216 this month and those vacancies start getting filled by special elections, we’ll be glad that we’ll get the chance to elect a Republican in the NY-29.
