There Won't Be Reconciliation or Easy Path to Repealing Obamacare
Rush Limbaugh ^ | March 5, 2010 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

.."Rush, you gotta remind people now the real trick here is there isn't going to be any reconciliation. If the House passes the Senate bill, it's a done deal." Obama had a meeting with all these guys yesterday, different groups of people. He said we don't have the votes for the public option right now but don't worry we're going to get it; we're going to ram this down people's throats. This is just the foundation, just the starting point. And that's damn true.

This is just the foundation if they get this. They don't have the votes now. They don't have the votes now, and I'm still not convinced that they're going to get close to having the votes in the House for the Senate bill. We'll keep a sharp eye. There's two weeks to go here before Obama's resurrection deadline of Easter Sunday.

...BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I got an e-mail question: "What do you mean, there won't be any reconciliation?" I spent some time on this yesterday afternoon and it's embarrassing that I missed this whole thing myself. All of this talk of reconciliation is just another head feint. All this talk of getting the Senate bill passed in the House and then back to the Senate for reconciliation where all the things the House wants get added in, the second bill, a third bill, not going to happen. The point is it was never the intention.

It's all been a head feint from the get-go. Once the House passes the Senate bill we've got Obamacare. The Senate's already passed it, the Christmas Eve bill, and the objective is what? To pass the Senate bill. There is no new bill. There is no new Obama bill. Pass the Senate bill. "But, Rush, but, Rush, it has the abortion lingo in it." Yeah, I know, and they're telling Stupak and the boys, "We'll fix that in the reconciliation." There isn't going to be a reconciliation.

More from RUSH:

--This is Sauron getting the ring and then letting Gollum have it for a couple minutes so he'd get it back. There is not going to be reconciliation. The minute Pelosi gets whatever she needs, 216 or 217 for that Senate bill, it goes to Obama, he signs it.

-- In fact, even if there's reconciliation he has to sign it. And so Obama's bringing these people up to the White House yesterday, the various factions of Democrats in the House, Barbara Lee was up there, I think she's chairman of the black caucus: (paraphrasing) "I don't like it, there's no public option." Obama: "We don't have the votes for public option.

-- We just don't have the votes right now for the public option, that's why it's not in the bill over in the Senate, and we can't get it in there. But this is just the foundation. This is just step one. We're going to have all kinds of goodies in this thing before it's all over with. But we've got to take the first step." That's why all the action is focused on the House here. Can Pelosi get the votes? Ignore the Senate. Everything coming out of the Senate is a distraction intended to keep your eye off where the real action is. The action is the head count in the House. ---

Rush is absolutely right:

“Once the House passes the Senate bill we’ve got Obamacare. “

Obama and the leftists are perfectly capable of conning their own fellow Democrats, to push Obamacare down our throats.

The country will lapse into civil disobedience on Health Care.

Very few will go along with it. We will have a cash/black market health care system.

I LOVE that!

My doctor will change from one 20 miles away in the USA away to one 60 miles away in Canada.

Rush is right. Once we have this bill passed into law it can never be repealed. First, once a freebee, no matter who pays for it, it will be like Social Security and voters will never stand for repeal. Second, to repeal an act like this would require such overwhelming support by the House, Senate, and President there will never be a time when this can happen. Much more, but why bother, if it passes it's over except for a little crying by the insurance since they will eventually go out of business and health care will be restricted.

This may sound silly, bear with me.

Let’s not forget that Reid Manager’s Amendment, nothing can be reversed.

Tie them up with amendments.

It’s unconstitutional in many ways.

The bill still isn’t complete and the people have no clue what horrors it contains; They should be made to read it.

Reps get on talk radio, place ads, hold townhalls to make sure all know there will NOT be reconciliation.

Point out Stern and lobbyists wrote the bill, not the people’s representatives.

Tell them it’s NOT just abortion, but euthanasia, IRS and tax controls/bank access, your records and privacy, them deciding who should live or die on a UK board standard (play the videos of the staff eugenicists and show what’s happened everywhere it’s been tried). Also the ‘preventative side’ and ‘clinics’ in the schools (I don’t have to tell you what kind).

We will lose doctors, they’ll have a cap coming.

How could all the millions who lost jobs ‘pay’ for their coverage?

Someone should point out the bare profit margin of insurance providers.

Let’s not forget the union exemptions and the keeping in of the Louisiana Purchase and other buyoffs.

Do ads with the actual shot of bill language and what it means.

Push the public to ask for the finished product, examine the CBO numbers, point out you’re taxed twice for healthcare they want to push back to 2018 (instead of paying four years for six years of O care, hence the fake first ten years number).

The next ten years are astronomical and the budget folks should attend a hearing ASAP to surmise what was left out and their methodology (names and actual persons who did the work).

It’s also time for those who blog (us), to provide history lessons for those who didn’t get them in our schools.

What ever happened to common sense.

The question from the start should have been, how can you cover more for less, yet say don’t consider pre-existing conditions?

There will be no reconciliation, Pelosi will run it for O’s signature as soon as it passes, while promising now to amend things later.

Civil disobedience after the fact... and they’ll still take your money with no healthcare in place.

They should be swinging from the gallows for attempting this.

Same beast, different name.

Funny, I remember our family focusing on insurance after the mortgage payment... but those were the days of paying the doctor (who made home visits), with cash without a middle man.

You are absolutely right: Republican politicians will never, ever repeal one iota of obamacare if it becomes law. It will become an “entitlement” — and Repubs will sit around discussing “how we can make it work better,” rather than how to get rid of it.

They are spineless. Always have been, always will be. Remember the 12 years of the Do-Nothing Republican Congress? They had the majority — and we got squat.

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

The House doesn't want the Senate version. Here's an explaination I read early today. More at the link.

Republicans rage against reconciliation for healthcare reform

The Democrats' new plan would go like this: The House would first vote to approve the Senate healthcare bill, which passed on Dec. 24 on a party-line vote, 60 to 39. But because the Senate bill is unacceptable to most House members, the House would also pass a package of “fixes.” Then, the Senate would pass the fixes under the reconciliation rules that require only a majority vote.

Angry Republicans present only one of the challenges to this plan. House Democrats wary of the Senate present another.

The key is convincing House Democrats that the Senate will pass the fixes, as promised. Asked at a press briefing whether the House is willing to take a “leap of faith” by passing the bill before the Senate passes the fixes, House majority leader Steny Hoyer said: “Well, we're working on having that faith verified."

End snip

I don't understand why repeal would be hard. The taxes start right away, but the so-called benefits don't start for four years. So folks get hammered by new taxes while still paying their own insurance.

I still think it has nothing to do with health or care. It is a revenue stream to stave off the collapse of the economy.
