Senate Democratic leaders are seriously considering employing rarely used Senate rules against “dilatory” motions and amendments to thwart Republican attempts to drag out debate on health care legislation, several Democratic sources acknowledged.
Senate rules prohibit dilatory amendments and motions once the chamber has broken a filibuster or invoked cloture, but there do not appear to be any specific rules pertaining to how many amendments or motions can be offered under reconciliation. However, Senate Democrats are likely to argue that reconciliation rules prohibit a filibuster, and that offering an endless stream of amendments is an attempt to get around that rule.

Once done it will never be undone or repealed by the RINO party who have never repealed anything and would never go the nuclear option route to repeal anything.
The GOP, temporary seat warmers for the Totalitarian left. What the GOP does is more injurious to the Republic than any other possible strategy. They win elections but do nothing to repeal un-Constitutional programs,entitlements,departments,etc. They in fact increase spending on the un-Constitutional programs but only at a slower pace than the Totalitarian left.

The catastrophic health care plan of 1988 or so was repealed the next year. So, there is a precedent.
I don’t know how the GOP could repeal it anyway unless they had a super majority in the Senate and a majority in the House and that isn’t going to happen. So you’re right, its all about the votes in the House. All the GOP can do is make it clear that if the House passes the Senate bill that the House is stuck with it. That could discourage some of the blue dogs from sliding it through.
If it can be passed without a super majority in the senate, then it can repealed without a super majority in the senate along with many other dem boondoggles. The dems are setting the precedent.
No. Legislative branch controls spending. IF and it’s a big IF, when the Dummies are run out of Congress, hopefully, the new members will cut any funding for this monstrosity.

I’m over-simplifying, but in large measure, a bunch of senior citizens pounding on Rostenkowski’s car was what made that repeal happen.
The dems had a majority last year to pass this piece of crap and didn’t so why are they blaming the Republicans now?
Just remember that any bill must be signed by the president to become law. Even if the Republicans took control of both the house and senate in 2010, they would have to have a veto-proof majority to get anything done (or repealed) without Obama’s approval (at least until 2012).
The dems want us to think that if they pass the senate bill in the house, it would then go to the senate for reconciliation.
What they will really do is have Obama sign it and it's law, NEVER to go to the senate.
They want all conservative eyes distracted by the reconciliation nonsense while they enact the law in plain sight.
Unfortunately, some marxist community organizer group would be in court in a nanosecond, and the courts would decree that the law be followed.
If it passes, the only way we get this eliminated before 2013 is through the Supreme Court. Things are iffy there, it may not be unconstitutional if it is a tax. If it is a bill that forces people to buy insurance, yes, it probably is unconstitutional, but I am not sure how they structured this thing.
The Supreme Court in the 30s wanted to strike down FDR's social security, but when they looked at it, it was just a tax, and it was legal under the 16th Amendment. It was sold to the country as a retirement plan that required everyone to participate, but when the Admin argued it in the Supreme Court, they admitted what it was. It was a tax that went to the general fund. That's why the Dems are able to spend all that money that supposedly is for SS. It's not a trust fund.
Same thing might happen with health care.
The Republican candidates in 2012 should make a campaign promise that they would pay back every penny of taxes collected, based on the passage of this bill, for which no services have been delivered.
Can I ask you what you’re doing? Instead of griping that GOP won’t do anything, are you: 1) Sending money to Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey and other conservatives; 2) PHONING THE GOP members in Congress and warning them that they had better show the spine to repeal health care; I AM SO TIRED of the whiney folks who say the GOP won’t repeal health care and won’t do a stinking thing. WHAT THE HAY ARE YOU FOLKS DOING?
On the one hand you’re right. The GOP did itself no favors by not standing up With Senator Bunning to get the extension on unemployment benefits paid for. Then so called moderates in the House demanded the same thing when the bill came to them and they got it! They were to the right of our rinos in the Senate. Of course, no press on the irony here. Nor were those “moderates” villafied as was Senator Bunning. Hypocrite press. But on the other hand, a third party will only keep the fascist Democrats in power. So Rinos must be replaced through the primary process. Arizona has a chance to do just that.

I understand your frustrations but the facts are the GOP is a liberal party with some Conservative/Classical Liberals in it.
That`s not a gripe, it`s reality.
If you still believe,after 70 years or more, that the GOP will suddenly adhere to the Constitution I wouldn`t call that a gripe but something else. False hopes,wishful thinking,unrealistic ?

Which is why we need to throw the socialist RINOs out and elect small government conservatives. I’m guessing it will take at least three election cycles to gain a large conservative majority, unless God thunders down lightning on our enemies. The new governor of Virginia is off to a good start reining in the socialists. Need more like him.
It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work.
