Dems at risk of decades in desert
New York Post ^ | March 4, 2010 | MARK CUNNINGHAM

'Hey, passing health- care reform may cost us the House or even the Senate this fall — but we'll get control back eventually, and the Republicans will never be able to repeal it."

That's what some Democrats are telling each other to justify the final push for ObamaCare. It might even be true — but it might also sentence the party to minority status for decades. Here's why:

ObamaCare isn't Medicare: Medicare's been popular since before it passed. It's an enormous boon to those it serves, at little noticeable cost to everyone else. "Health-care reform" will take a lot away from a lot of people — forcing them to change plans, hiking their taxes and more.

So passing ObamaCare will create a large, popular movement for repeal that Medicare never faced.

Fine, repeal will be even harder than passing the reform — and Republicans haven't had a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate in living memory.

There is one problem. We don’t have the money to pay our yearly budget. 1.6 trillion deficit this year I think. Something has to give. China and Russia are gun shy about buying any more US paper.

I think the stock market has managed gains the last year because the Republicans have managed to keep the Marxist in check. If this passes, expect the job market to get even worse. Beating the snot out of a sick patient, doesn’t usually make them better.

“...but the idiots from Michigan are not listening...”

I share your frustration. My congressman, Dingell, was the original sponsor of the House plan. I contacted him several times. I’m sure my comments fell on deaf ears.

Likewise Stabenow and Levin.

They were saying the same about the GOP after the 2008 elections.

November 1978 could be repeated in November 2010 if the Democrats drink the Kool-Aid.

I unloaded on TN’s senators yesterday. Lamar Alexandar’s girl sounded like she had been getting a lot of HOT under the collar callers like me. Asked her where seniors were supposed to get more money for all the new city, county, state and federal taxes the various levels of government are wanting. When we are NOT getting COLAS for 3 years! And they are cut and gutting Medicare, SS and Tricare for Life.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:
http://economicspolitics.blogspot.com/2009/05/tricare-for-life-is-obama-trying-to.html

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollee’s cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases

http://www.navytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w/

By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

Bless you for doing that.

Half-seriously, I figure if Øbozo gets his beloved DeathScareTM made law, I expect when Miss Emily or I need more care that we are worth, we'll get shipped to the Euthanasia Center, err, Happy Carefree Old Folks Retirement Home, and have our organs harvested to keep the younger Drones, err, productive citizens, going...

I don’t believe Zero has a long-term strategy ... he has a very, very short-term scorched-earth strategy. Passage of healthcare brings immediate new taxes, cascading regulations and “command and control” from the White House that will spin the stock market, stop foreign investment and kill the American economy.

In short we will have a crash bigger than the great depression. Once Zero has collapsed the USA, he will remake it in his own image ... a totalitarian dictator.

Trust me, you will reflect fondly at night about Jimmy Carter ... (because you won’t be able to sleep).
