Sarah Palin -- reality TV star?

The former Alaska governor is teaming with uber-producer Mark Burnett to shop a reality series about her home state, network sources confirm.

Palin and Burnett made the rounds at at least three of the major broadcasters (NBC, ABC and Fox) while in Los Angeles for her taping of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" this week.

I didn’t get any hiys on the assorted grunts and groans....save for certain “adult” oriented sites. Those I shall not use as citing’s, though.

Ah well.

I’m sure Mr. Robinson would love to hear your thoughts on the subject.

I didn’t say anything about the endorsing of a candidate, Venus.

My mistake, I guess: if you look at the way you fashioned this---Too bad [O'Rourke's] a Libertarian who worked for Bill Maher during the last election (2008)---it could have been construed to mean O'Rourke endorsed or did some campaign legwork for Maher for president. Something a) I couldn't imagine O'Rourke doing even at gunpoint; and b) something I couldn't imagine Maher doing even drunk. (Though there's always the chance that Maher is capable and crazy enough to do just about anything . . . not limited to shrinking like a violet when Larry Elder waxed his tail on the air over the gun issue a few years back) It wouldn't be my first mistake and I'm sure it won't be my last.

And a grateful audience thanks you. ;)

I'm sure he can avail himself of my thoughts if he wishes. They're not exactly a threat to anything (except the continuing metastasis of government, I hope) or anyone.

O’Rourke worked for Maher as a “Real Time” reporter.

Your problem is that you spout leftist crap, it’s that simple. You support 0bama and do it in a manner that is typically leftist.

I know, I was raised in an ultra leftist family. Some of the standard leftist qualities:

1. Tremendous arrogance

2. Snarkiness

3. Faux “cool” and an “I’m above it all” attitude

4. Scorn for sincerity

5. Scorn for those who believe in God

6. A strong “I’m in with the in-crowd” mentality

7. A strong faith in their own natural superiority

8. Undercurrent of jocularity where none is warranted; the scornful laugh, the joke that the “fools” don’t get

O’Rourke worked for Maher as a “Real Time” reporter.
Indeed.

Though I'd have to guess (I don't watch Maher---at gunpoint or otherwise) he approached it somewhere along the line of the manner in which William F. Buckley, Jr. once answered the question of why he consented to be interviewed in depth by Playboy back in the year: To communicate my views to my seventeen-year-old son. Perhaps O'Rourke was or wasn't trying to communicate his views to his own children (he has three, to my knowledge), but there's something to be said for communicating your views through the adversary's megaphone when you get the rare enough chance to do so.

You’ve nailed it, LJ.

I’ve listed those so-predictable adolescent liberal behaviors, in numerous posts here on FR.

Nice to see them gathered in one place.

He also hung out with John Belushi in the 70s.

I have never gotten into the mindset of not being able to like the things I like because of my political ideology.

My tastes run from Oscar Wilde to Red Dawn. I have both Hank Williams, Jr. and Rage Against the Machine in my record collection.

I can send a list of all my books, CDs, and DVDs and you can tell me which ones I need to toss.

As I said, Maher is scum. O’Rourke’s association with him is despicable.

Belushi was a drug addict. You’re adding fuel to the fire.

1. Tremendous arrogance

Guilty

2. Snarkiness

Guilty

3. Faux “cool” and an “I’m above it all” attitude

Not guilty

4. Scorn for sincerity

Sincere idiocy deserves scorn

5. Scorn for those who believe in God

Certainly not guilty as I am not an atheist. And even if I were, I would never scorn my mother.

6. A strong “I’m in with the in-crowd” mentality

I’ve never been in the in-crowd.

7. A strong faith in their own natural superiority

Possibly guilty. This is also the same as #1.

8. Undercurrent of jocularity where none is warranted; the scornful laugh, the joke that the “fools” don’t get

This is the same as #2.

I have never gotten into the mindset of not being able to like the things I like because of my political ideology.

You put me in mind of Norman Podhoretz's observation that he found it entirely possible to adore the manner in which a work of art or literature or whatever was done while deploring the view (if any) it was trying to convey, even as he found it likewise possible to deplore the manner in which a work of art or literature or whatever was done while adoring the view (if any) it was trying to convey. (The precise passage escapes me, my copy is long lost, but he wrote it in the introduction to his collection, The Bloody Crossroads: Where Literature and Politics Meet, in the mid-1980s.)

Ann Coulter possibly dated Bill Maher. She was certainly his close friend for a number of years.

Many notable conservatives have appeared with Maher over the years.

You could easily be a relative.

I know your kind backwards and forwards.

Yes, I do.

Fin de siecle nobs who think the world of themselves. Toffs. Arrogance is their middle name. Scorn is their badge. And adherence to leftism will be your millstone.

She stated this morning on FOX that it was a documentary about Alaska, and vehemently denied to Brian Kilmeade it was a reality show about her family.

Just wait a bit before jumping to conclusions.

Everyone, including a large number of Freepers, underestimates her.

Well, yes. Alas, I know. There were times when I thought Maher would be one of the ones who might burst out laughing at the poor wretch threatening to jump off the highest suspension bridge.

Maher wouldn't appreciate the subtlety in a story I used to love about Goodman Ace, the old radio writer: A relative was said to have wired him, "Send $10,000 or I'll jump from the fourteenth floor!" and Ace is said to have wired back, "Jump from seven, I can only afford $5,000."
