2 men charged in NYC with supporting terror

NEW YORK — A native New Yorker and a former accountant were charged Friday with conspiring to give computer advice, buy wrist watches and do other tasks to help al-Qaida "modernize."
A vaguely worded indictment unsealed Friday in federal court in Manhattan accused Wesam El-Hanafi, who was born in Brooklyn, of traveling to Yemen to meet with unnamed al-Qaida members in February 2008.
The terrorists "instructed him on operational security measures and directed him to perform tasks for al-Qaida," the indictment says. While there, he also "took an oath of allegiance to al-Qaida," it adds.
In February 2008, El-Hanafi, 33, bought computer software that allowed him to secretly communicate over the Internet, federal prosecutors allege. That summer, he met with an unnamed co-conspirator and the second defendant, Sabirhan Hasanoff, in Brooklyn to discuss joining al-Qaida, according to the indictment.
The confidential co-conspirator paid $50,000 to Hasanoff, 34, who later traveled to New York City and performed unspecified "tasks for al-Qaida," the court papers say. The papers say that the conspiracy included El-Hanafi purchasing seven Casio digital watches last year, but doesn't say why.
Two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press Friday that both men were detained overseas and brought to the United States, arriving in Virginia. The officials spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing; they did not specify where overseas the men were detained.
Prosecutors described Hasanoff only as a dual citizen of the United States and Australia who has lived in Brooklyn. Public records show he has a Queens address and is a certified public accountant.
A professional networking site says a Sabir Hasanoff was a senior manager at Pricewaterhouse Coopers who graduated from Baruch College in Manhattan. Pricewaterhouse spokesman Kelly Howard said the accounting firm employed Hasanoff from 2003 to 2006.
The employment history is striking comparison to other recent cases involving suspects who were recruited by al-Qaida for operations on U.S. soil, including that of Najibullah Zazi. Zazi — who admitted plotting a suicide attack on Manhattan subway stations after receiving al-Qaida explosives training in Pakistan — and his accomplices were younger and less educated. Zazi was a coffee cart vendor and an airport van driver in Colorado at the time of his arrest; another suspect was a New York City cab driver.
U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement that the men had schemed "to modernize al-Qaida by providing computer systems expertise and other goods and services." His office declined further comment.

On the eve of his trial, American citizen Syed "Fahad" Hashmi has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization. In exchange for his guilty plea, U.S. federal prosecutors will not prosecute him on three other counts of conspiracy and material support to terrorism. Hashmi had faced up to 70 years in prison if convicted on all four counts.
Hashmi, 30, a Pakistan-born U.S. citizen who grew up in New York, has been held in pretrial solitary confinement in Manhattan since 2007. On Tuesday, the afternoon before his trial, he appeared in federal court a block away to offer a guilty plea to a single count of conspiring to provide material support to terrorism.
In a written statement, U.S. attorney for the Southern District Preet Bharara said that Hashmi will now face justice for knowingly "giving aid to terrorists whom he knew full well were dedicated to harming Americans."

The case has become a cause célèbre among liberal justice groups who object to the conditions of Hashmi's pretrial confinement. Hashmi has been in his Manhattan cell 23 hours a day and alone at all times for almost three years.
Political science professor Jeanne Theoharis taught Hashmi at Brooklyn College and helped to organize the campaign to publicize his case, including a recent fundraiser in Manhattan.
She says the conditions of his jailing are a form of torture.

Agents observed several subjects illegally enter the United States carrying what agents suspected were narcotics. When agents arrived on the scene, they observed the van being driven off at a high rate of speed. The driver, later identified as the apprehended illegal alien, accelerated toward the agents and struck a Border Patrol vehicle. The subject attempted to abscond on foot; however, he complied with agents’ orders to stop and drop the weapon that he was carrying. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana.
San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near San Ysidro, California. Agents attempted to perform a vehicle stop on a 1995 Nissan Altima, but the driver of the vehicle failed to yield and sped away. The subject and two others were later seen running from the vehicle. After a brief foot chase, the subject was apprehended. The other two unidentified subjects absconded.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Big Fields, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.

Agents arrested the driver, and the remaining unidentified subjects absconded into Mexico. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana inside the truck.
Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,135 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Tahoe near Los Ebanos, Texas. Agents observed several subjects loading the Tahoe with large bundles of what appeared to be narcotics. In an attempt to stop the vehicle, agents deployed a Controlled Tire Deflation Device. When the vehicle stopped, the driver absconded and a subsequent search revealed the marijuana inside.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being an 18th Street gang member. Records checks revealed he had an extensive criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,880 pounds of marijuana and a Dodge van at a residence in Nogales, Arizona. Agents were responding to a report of illegal activity at the home, and with the assistance of local law enforcement officers, gained access to the home. The marijuana was discovered inside the home and the vehicle.

Appropriate notifications were made regarding the assault.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued four Mexican illegal aliens after they made a 911 call to emergency services near Gila Bend, Arizona. The subjects claimed they were lost and out of water when agents located and rescued them.
Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Why, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for willful cruelty to a child in the state of California, and had been previously removed from the United States.

I agree. Every poll and every website I've seen indicates 75% of Americans are against illegal immigration. These marches will serve only to reinforce that percentage and further inflame people who were in the "undecided" category.

I sent it to talk shows...Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Hannity, et al. Sent emails to every decent publication and reporter I could find an email address for. Put it up on my blog. Called anyone I could think ot because I KNEW the justice department would not touch it with a ten foot pole.
I hated that I could not find a way, not even a small one, to absolve George Bush. I wanted him to be a good man, and maybe he is, but he could not buck his family.

MR. BILL and MS. HILL
Do not underestimate the Clintons’ connections, money, and influence in high, high places, (and very low places.) Check it out. Hillary would never have been elected president. Looked like she might be falling out of it until New Hampshire.
McCain NEVER would have been Conservative’s pick for president. He was dead...until New Hampshire.
What happened in New Hampshire? The pollsters were flabbergasted since the Big O was ahead by 10.
Barack Obama, is and was, the Clinton’s stalking horse all along. Don’t forget she is also an Alinsky critter from Chicago. She couldn’t be elected, but he just might with the right “guidance.”
The game was afoot. From there on, Bill made sure that Hill made a good showing, but subtley shot her down every step of the way. Both he and she had way too much to lose if she had been elected. The scrutiny into shady dealings would have been microscopic in detail. All their finances would have had to be placed in a blind trust. Bill would have had to curtail all of his extramarital activities...not to mention some of his more notorious friendships with criminals around the world.
Democrats allowed to vote in Republican primaries chose McCain. Huckabee, a Clinton friend and neighbor from the same hometown, for heaven’s sake, stayed in the race, threw votes to McCain to slam Romney and finally force him out.
Hillary won primaries in places Obama barely campaigned. And when it came down to the wire, Hillary “graciously” betrayed her supporters and backed Mr. O. TOO easy. Hillary is NOT THAT EASY!!!
O picked Biden. Good Lord! A clown for VP. No one takes him seriously. He’s just Joe.
McCain picked Palin because he thought she was a hick, never thought she would go off like a shooting star. It backfired on him, and she was a smash hit with everyone he thought he had already turned off. So his campaign tried to hide her, and when she was still a major draw, McCain became almost a dunce on the campaign trail, saying exactly the wrong things at the wrong time, or saying the same things over and over ad nauseum. They tried to force Palin into the same MO.
Remember the friendly, “make-up” meeting right before a weekend with Mr. Bill, who had stayed obviously “petulant” to the press, and “vindictively” out of sight on the campaign trail for Obama.
The date of this meeting was September 11.
Then lo and behold. Obama comes out Monday with an entire new campaign based solely on the economy. We are informed that AIG is going down. Everything is going down. Crisis after crisis from the Fed. Chaos is the rule and it never had to happen. So why did it?
Why did McCain make a special stop at Clinton’s Foundation fundraiser to kiss the ring before going to DC to monkeywrench Republicans who didn’t want to vote for the bailout? When I saw him on stage hugging “his great friend,” Bill Clinton, I knew it was over.
I have seen Bill Clinton do exactly this kind of thing before. He scammed Netanyahu into a “peace deal” with Arafat by making a solemn promise to him. Right before the cameras rolled, Clinton hugged Netanyahu in front of all the reporters and cameras, and whispered in his ear that, “Oh, by the way, I lied.”
THE DAY CLINTON HUGGED NETANYAHU...
Netanyahu was soon thereafter charged with a crime he never committed and spent years trying to gain back his reputation before he was cleared. Carville went to Israel to help a Clinton psychophant win the Israeli election. Ironically, another Barack, who gave Arafat everything he ever wanted, and then some, until Arafat turned the tables and shafted Mr. Bill. Otherwise, there would be no Israel left to speak of.

Bill Clinton had turned Freddie and Fannie into a Democrat fiefdom. His friends made gazillions stealing the Fed blind and covering for bad actors in the mortgage industry. Clinton had stacked every agency in the government with his own people. He stacked the courts.
McCain threw this election just as sure as I am sitting here...and so did Hillary.
McCain gets a few bones. Hillary gets power. Bill gets even more power. The Clintons will control most major cabinet positions, AND Rahm Emanuel. They have literally emptied the treasury and their friends are still partying with our money.
Seeing McCain with O today sent chills down my spine. War hero or not, Mccain has always been a snake. It will be worse now.
Clinton had 16 years to move all these pieces into place. Eight as president and eight years of Bush, while becoming Daddy Bush’s “adopted son.”
They had a vindictive John McCain who was so full of resentment against Conservatives that his most ardent desire was to get even. It was personal, not patriotic,...a vendetta.
Now here we are on the precipice of a world disaster the likes of which we have never seen.
Of course Bill didn’t do this singlehandedly. Plenty of help from the Soros groups, other billionaire crime types, leftist Hollywierds and looneytunes, and let us not forget race based poverty pimps.
Our country has been stolen. I don’t know how, or if, we will ever get it back.

Mr. Obama,
You might be president today, but your title does not make you a god, as much as you like to think it does.
You know, and WE know that your “victory” was the culmination of the criminal stacking of every government agency, including the courts, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies, with insane,leftist ideologues formerly known as Clintonistas.
WE know that McCain was chosen to insure your election. None of us wanted McCain. He was forced upon us by the same vapid RINO elitists for whom Conservatism is a dirty word. He is you in whiteface, Mr. Obama, and we like him about as much as we like you. Not so much.
Had you run a clean election without the black racism directed against any white candidate, you would have had your butt handed to you on a cookie sheet.
Had you run against a real conservative, black racists would not have overwhelmed the polls because many more of us would have voted. So what makes you think you can intimidate us the way you have tried to do and get away with it? The more you try to shut us up, the harder we will fight.

Mr. Obama,
My last post was a simple explanation of your only role in the government everyone presumes you run. However, the truth is becoming all too clear much more quickly than even I thought it would, (and I KNEW it would,) isn’t it?
In the past week, you have provided more evidence for my analysis than I ever dreamed possible. The least you might have done is be a little less blatant about it, but you, being the “smartest man to ever assume the presidency,” don’t seem quite smart enough to cover who you really are and what you have always been...a common street thug who, when given the opportunity to actually be something more, (even if it’s just for appearances,) just can’t hide the spots you wear on your back or leave your thuggishness behind.
Like many of the hip-hop celebrities, money, and/or position, only makes them glow in the dark and highlights their lack of self-control. Their excesses are on a worldwide stage for everyone to see...and hear. Instead of acting with some kind of dignity, they have just moved their ill manners and thuggery into better digs. They remain who they are, trouble walking...with a bit more money and a lot of notoriety.
And thus you come to us, a street thug, disguised as a statesman, a messiah, a president, when in reality, you are a stupid, corrupt Chicago politician who could not hide his eagerness to defile the Whitehouse for even a day.
Your handlers offered you a golden cup from which you eagerly gorged yourself on, but I wonder how long it will be before even they say enough. You are already out of control. Only the most psyched-out freaks who actually believe you are something will continue to believe you are anything.
Anyone with neurons firing on the merest rudimentary basis cannot help but see you are not even just a faker in an empty suit. You are an empty shell. Narcissistic, greedy, and stupid are only a few of the adjectives that describe you. Your gluttony for the spotlight and highlife will consume you. Unfortunately, it might consume us as well.
At this particular moment, there isn’t enough time for all the links and photos that illustrate what you are, so I’ll update it later. But suffice it to say, that you tell us we must freeze, while firing up the heat for yourself. You serve up $120.00 per pound steaks at a party while self-righteously calling corporate CEOs shameful... Oh, my Lord, Mr. O. You make me gag.

John McCain, in suspending his presidential campaign to (eventually) head back to Washington from New York to help the push for a financial rescue plan, may have nixed a planned appearance on “Late Night with David Letterman” and cancelled a chat with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
But McCain wasn’t about to snub his old friend, Bill Clinton, this morning. And the ex-president, for all his expressions of support for Barack Obama and predictions of victory in November for his fellow Democrat, continues to give the impression he’s definitely hedging his bets.

According to Senator Bob Casey, Lord help us, from PA, “But this — I think there are three, at least three points about this memorandum of understanding between Senator Clinton as well as her husband, the former president, and the new administration. And it’s this — they’re disclosing information that’s never been disclosed before. It’s voluntary. They don’t have to do it. There is no legal requirement.”

Any Republicans who allow you to run roughshod over the Constitution and us, U S, without a fight is not going to ingratiate themselves to us OR to the heartland of America. Truly, I hope they know that. They are all that is standing between the survival of a free country or final tranformation into a fascist state.
That is not a rhetorical statement. It is all too true.
Picture that list times 51 other weeks and bear in mind this is not a complete list, only a partial of what border patrol comes across in their daily work. It is absolutely a borderless, lawless southwestern USA that those who should be protecting us (sworn to do so) are knowingly and massively failing to do. If these "politicians" held jobs in the private sector securing our nation from these invaders, they'd be fired outright for complete and utter failure to do their jobs.
Border Patrol told not to stop illegal aliens in City of San Diego

A directive barring Border Patrol agents from stopping suspected illegal immigrants on city streets is throwing the 1,600 San Diego-area agents into turmoil.
The directive, contained in an internal memo last week from William T. Veal, Border Patrol chief in San Diego, said "agents are not authorized to conduct any interior enforcement or city patrol operations in or near residential areas or places of employment."
The Border Patrol is being told they can only patrol right on the border. Even if they see a criminal on a San Diego city street who they know has been deported before they are powerless to stop that person.
