Tancredo rips Palin: Not 'presidential,' just selling books By Eric Zimmermann - 03/01/10 12:09 PM ET
Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) ripped into fellow Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin in a recent interview, saying she's not "presidential" and accusing her of simply trying to sell books.
In an interview published yesterday (via GOP 12) Tancredo said he can't see Palin as commander in chief.
"I really dont have this feeling about her as being presidential," he said. "I dont know what it is exactly. I dont know if the issues really are that difficult for her or not.
Tancredo said Palin doesn't seem to be attempting to improve as a candidate and suggested that her goal seems to be to "make a lot of money and stay in the mix."
Tancredo said he's particularly upset that Palin will campaign for John McCain in his primary against J.D. Hayworth, a Tancredo ally:
She has to do this to rise in the party ranks?
I think so.
So she is just as much an unprincipled politician as all the rest of them?
To a large extent.
And you still love her?
I didnt say that!
Well, in your Tea Party speech you pointed out that she could finally say all those wonderful things now shes free from McCain.
I said: Now she can tell it like it is. And she chooses not to.
But Tancredo saved his heaviest fire for McCain, whom Tancredo has long disagreed with on immigration reform, among other things.
I dont like him," Tancredo said flatly. "He is not a very pleasant person. He is nasty, mean; the skin of an onion would look deep compared to his. He has a short fuse, he is almost peculiarly unstable.
He’s irritated at her for supporting McCain.
I say, watch how and how much she supports him.
Otherwise, I agree with Tancredo’s assessment of McCain. Its time we’re rid of him.
As for Sarah and her supposed “presidential” ambitions, its early yet. Let Sarah be Sarah (and let Tancredo be Tancredo). Its early yet, too early to worry about who we’re going to support in 2011. She has been an ally in stopping the Obama agenda, which is good. The list of people who stood up when we were all getting the bum’s rush is pretty short, but she was one of them.
I’m starting to lean toward Jim DeMint. But I’m immediately suspicious about the purpose of attacks on Palin. From the Left, I understand. From the Right, I always wonder why someone busy trying to stop Obama would attack a fellow conservative who is doing the same thing. When its the usual crowd, I always figure its Romney in the background. In the case of Tancredo, I just figure its just him being him, calling them as he sees them. I’m not going to attack him or her.
Feh ...
Gov. Palin has my vote and my support (for what little it’s worth), if she wants it.
And what is Tancredo’s claim to fame? Sounds like sour grapes or envy or jealousy or all of these.
I agree with Tancredo’s thoughts and feelings on this subject
In 2008 Tancredo endorsed Romney. Is a repeat in the cards for 2012?
Is he?
I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt...
It seems that most of the Repub attacks on Palin go back to Romney supporters. I was hoping Tancredo was better than that...
Really Tancredo?
And what other Republican has done more to take down Zero, than Sarah Palin?
That includes hair boy Mitt.
I'm not a fan of McCain, but this Tancredo creep should do 5 years as a P.O.W. in a Vietnamese prison and see what it does to his psyche.
Tancredo’s speech at CPAC totally turned me off to him. He came off as more of a bigot than a patriot, and speeches like that make us all look bad.
As for Sara, I love her dearly, but I’m the first to admit she has a way to go. I’d rather see her as a fundraiser for other candidates for now.
I dont like him,” Tancredo said flatly. “He is not a very pleasant person. He is nasty, mean; the skin of an onion would look deep compared to his. He has a short fuse, he is almost peculiarly unstable.
Tancredo bump.
J. D. Hayworth for Senate.
That’s what I meant to say. I wouldn’t support a primary run but I would support her in the General against anyone as long as she was the GOP nominee.
Tancredo endorsed Romney when the choices were Romney, Huckabee, and McCain. The only conservative choice was Thompson who was floundering in Iowa and showing no desire to win.
Well based on his past presidential attempt this should be seen as a compliment
There is such a target rich environment on the left that it boggles the mind when good conservatives spin their wheels cutting each other up.
Although I don’t care to see conservatives give leftists ammunition at any time, it is one thing to make a valid but critical observation about a primary election opponent. It is quite another to just take random and gratuitous pot shots at each other when neither is an announced candidate for any office.
People continue to forget that as a sitting governor of Alaska, Sarah would be at significant disadvantage to almost ANY other candidate for higher office, simply based on geography. It’s a helluva lot different than a Rep or Senator in DC who has daily access to a microphone simply by walking outside their office door. A microphone wielded by a nationally recognized reporter I should add, making note that Alaska does have media (those vermin are everywhere). you’re looking at a multi-day trip just to appear in a national forum and Sarah would then be criticized for being out of the state for so many days. Let’s be realistic here, people.
To those who claim she is not intellectual enough, could they please give one example of an issue on which she is not intellectual enough, with their own intellectual take on that issue, so we have something to judge it by?
Tom, let’s start with you. Pick an issue and tell me what was a dummy answer and how would you show your intellectual prowess to the electorate on that issue.
The floor is yours...
