In the last 50 years in the U.S., how many people have been killed and how many houses destroyed by tornadoes compared to earthquakes?I believe tornadoes have killed many more.

A large jellyfish stung me on Huntington Beach. Really hurt. an entire leg. No time to get scared but fast forward: I’m a big chicken about animals now.

Lotta white caps from Diamond Head, Oahu and reefs are exposed. “looks like low tide.” Hilo goes in and out every 20 minutes. The latter surges can be worse.

Idiot on the Weather channel just said that 3 hundred million people felt the shaking of the Chile earthquake. And she looked at a paper in her hand to check if she was saying the right amount.
Is everyone who works on tv number-challenged????

I think it’s showing amplitude if it’s the same chart I looked at earlier. Amplitude isn’t height, it’s kind of misleading.

Is it the action of water being sucked out that is flattening all the (wind) waves into whiteish bubble-sheets?

Mmmm, might be talking about the Kailua-Kaneohe area. Little known fact: the Koolau mountains (those steep ridges) and the Kailua area are the remnants of what was a 20 mile wide caldera. The humps and small islets on the Windward coast are old cinder cones that were in there.
Oahu used to be much larger, but most of the caldera collapsed into the ocean. You can bet that caused a nice tsunami!

It really p*ssed me off! But otherwise I’m unscarred.

5.2 ought not cause much wave action, should it?

On another topic, while we are waiting for waves, I heard a replay of a portion of Thursday’s ‘summit’. POTUS called Rep Boehner, “Leader Bonyer”.
He must have forgotten what his first name was, and confused Boehner with the Democrat Bonior, because he stuttered a bit before he came out with “Leader Bonyer”.
