WASHINGTON Democratic congressional leaders vowed Friday to resurrect their long-stalled health care legislation, with or without Republican suggestions or even their votes. One day after an unprecedented health care summit that brought together President Barack Obama and lawmakers of both parties, Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the nationally televised event showed GOP lawmakers are "accepting of the status quo" in which insurance companies mistreat consumers.
She told reporters at a news conference there are "good prospects for passing" health care legislation along the lines Obama has outlined, even if Republicans refuse their support.
The Senate's second-ranking Democrat, Richard Durbin of Illinois, seconded the determination to move ahead. "We are not going to wait," he said.
Both Pelosi, D-Calif., and Durbin said Democrats would consider Republican suggestions for changes.

When you have your opponent up against the ropes, you don’t stop punching until they are down. Keep up the Tea Parties and keep up the pressure until the commies are drummed out of the system!
We can turn this tyranny around and witness Obozo leaving the WH beside the trash bags.
They’re better off killing it now, though. If they don’t, they’ll have the worst of all possible worlds. They won’t please their base because nothing will pass, but they’ll give enough angst to the voters to ensure a Republican landslide.
He doesn’t give a rip. For him, it’s his signature legislation and ultimate power grab.
Is Nancy sending up a trial balloon?
Dem lawmakers are accepting of the “status mao.”
back in the day before they started forcing us to drive Priuses and Cooper Minis, we used to call this Chicken
It’s July 5, 1863 and ol’ Robert E believes he can win if he just runs one more charge across that open field.

In one breath they say they are going forward without the Republicans, and then in the next obama says the republicans only have 6 weeks to get on board with his plan.
I know this is serious stuff about the fate of the country, but even so you gotta laugh. The dems are positively comical!
Reportedly she gave a hall pass to some blue dogs to vote against it the first time so they could claim they were against it during their elections in the fall. There won’t be any hall passes if the vote is truly close. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Yes, but they won’t vote if they’re not happy and/or agitated.
Right now, you are only paying for their health care.
True, but if she has them, she’ll have to pull teeth.
On top of the unpopularity of the bill, the maneuver that’s required here is even less popular. They tried to get out the meme that the unfairness is in the filibuster, but it hasn’t stuck.
What this means is that if this passes, there will be about 230 Dems on record as supporting Obamacare at one point or another.
What she really wants is to announce that the train is leaving the station and Republicans had better get on it. I don’t see any Republicans being cowed this time around.
What part of, “The American people don’t want you power-hungry bureaucrats running our lives right down to the cellular level” do these bozos not understand?
I hope the Democommies understand that passage of Obamacare is tantamount to a declaration of civil war, and that their lives, fortunes and DISHONOR may be forfeit.
We will go through the gate. If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we will parachute in. But we are going to get health care reform passed for the American people for their own personal health and economic security and for the important role that it will play in reducing the deficit.
You just know that thing will hurtcha if you don’t do as she says.
Like I said, we’ll have to wait and see if she’s bluffing. Heath Shuler said the other day they should just allow the thing to die. I think he expresses the frustration of a lot of Dem congressmen who see their future withering away before their eyes.
it may even be worse than that. When they started the debate last year we were told that it was because we now pay $1700 each for health insurance to cover the uninsured. Estimates are that after this bill is passed we will each pay $4000 more per year.
