"My son took his own life," Walter Koenig said at a news conference in the park.

For those familiar with fanfilms, he was also the Joker in Batman: Dead End. Very sad to hear of his passing.

Sad to hear of this loss for the Koenig family. He never got an iconic role like his father’s role on Star Trek.

From the article, interesting and sad:
Koenig was an activist interested in many causes, his father’s Web site says. He was arrested at the Rose Bowl in 2008 while protesting U.S. involvement in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in China. He opposed U.S. participation because of China’s support for a repressive regime in Myanmar, also known as Burma, the Web site says.

Very sad for The Koenig family. A permanent solution to a (hopefully) temporary problem. It looks like the man had been suffering for years. At least his pain is over. Never will be so for the family he left behind.

Never watched the show he was in but saw Walter Koenig in person at a Sci Fi Convention in Phx AZ about 10 years ago. The father was small. Too bad about the son.

Suicide Prevention specialists will tell you that selling that some of your prized possessions is an indication that suicide might happen. You're exactly right. With all of the suicides lately in the military, we have to go through suicide awareness classes about once every two months and this is listed as a warning sign to report to any Chaplain, mental health professional, chain-of-command member, or MP/firefighter. But it's not so much selling prized possessions as much as a sudden happy attitude while GIVING away your prized possessions.
