Host vs. Host: Limbaugh, Levin Pummel Beck
The Atlantic Wire ^ | 02/24/10 | Jake Simpson

Posted on 02/24/2010 12:59:45 PM PST by writer33

Virtually unknown a year ago, Glenn Beck has rapidly risen to the top of the right-wing punditocracy. Witness his keynote address at CPAC, where the Fox News titan assailed Republicans and Democrats alike and called for a return to bedrock conservative values. Though conservatives bloggers were nonplussed by Beck's attacks on the right, most praised at least some elements of his speech.

"Do you feel the same way about Levin calling them "statists?".

Well, if the word "statist" ever gets as familiar and widely-used as "liberal", I'd have no objection, to be sure.

Let me know when it does, LOL.

On one hand, I agree with you. The infighting has to stop. I love Rush, Levin and Beck and I hate this. Hate it. I’m overcome with dread when I listen to it or read about it. It has to stop or it’s going to tear us apart. These guys need to realize the kind of influence they have and start acting responsibly. They’re demoralizing the troops in a big way, and it’s totally unnecessary.

On the other hand, with regards to candidates and the “RINO” vs. “Purist” wars... it’s primary season. That’s what we do in the primaries. Moderates fight for the leftward leaning candidates, conservatives fight for right-wing candidates. That’s par for the course and should be expected.

>> What did Rush say?

Rush is belaboring usage of the “Republicans suck too” phrase.

Apparently, Limbaugh and Levin have cornered the phrase, and when used by others, it’s unacceptable.

Well, too effin bad. THE REPUBLICANS SUCK!!! (well, they suck less)

I agree! Progressive is the word liberals have chosen for themselves. They are proud to say they are progressives. They avoid liberal as it has been proven to paint them in a bad light. The liberal brand must stay.

“Sorry, but Beck has never been “working for the same goal”. His goal is to take the Tea party movement into the Libertarian party and that will mean a generation lost to the Left. It may even mean America’s permanent destruction.”

Bingo. Some people just can’t figure things out until they are slapped in the face with it. Beck has been doing moral equivalence of the Dems and Pubs on his show from the gitgo. He has not been making differentiations between the two parties, he says they both suck equally. Glenn is enamored of the Libertarians, has many of them as guests on his show, and has heavy duty third party inclinations. Rush and Levin feel Beck is dividing the conservatives and is demoralizing the Pubs by constantly saying they are just like the Dems. He does not separate out RINOs from the conservative Pubs; he just lumps them altogether, and if you watch his program everyday like I do, then you know this. Just when Pubs stand a real chance for a comeback, and even though there will always be RINOs, most Pubs have “gotten the message” about overspending, Beck is saying divisive things about the Pubs on a continuing basis. This could lead to a third party Ross Perot type of situation, guaranteed to get a Dem back in just when the Pubs have their best chance to wrestle the reins of power away from the Dems. Beck deserves the chastisement he is getting from not only Rush and Levin, but also Ann Coulter who has been complaining about this moral equivalence baloney coming out of Beck’s mouth, and from Bill Bennett also, who is complaining about Beck’s tactics. Beck has got to get off of his Libertarian romance, or just state outright that he is one so that we all know where he is coming from.

I don’t hear that when listening to Beck. I guess you listen to Levin, who I also like. I just ain’t playing the circular firing squad game.

We are all smart enough to make our own minds up. I do not need a talk show host to tell me what to do.

"Wrong names!"

A pox upon you, sir, and others who do not recognise the danger of "moderation" when confronting danger.

The Tea Party movement is made up of people who inherently know where the danger lives, and will work hard to defeat it.

You do not see the danger as they do, making you part of the problem.

His goal is to take the Tea party movement into the Libertarian party

THE THIRD PARTYER in chief.

GLENN: You know, I have to tell you, the answer is to get away from the two-party system because they are both progressives. Just progressive and progressive light. But they're both progressives and they have been taking us down this road for over 100 years. And everyone says there's no libertarians out there. There are libertarians out there, and you watch them.

How many folks have heard of Levin or ever will? I say that as I have his book in front of me. He is being foolish here and he is being self centered.

TIme to cut it out.

Why don't you spend you time attacking the liberals? They are the real problem...but NO, you have to nit-pick on conservatives and measure them against one another. "Who is more conservative than who?"

There were a LOT of 'Glenn Beck' listeners in that crowd of 1.5 million in Washington last September 12th. It is sheer genius on the part of Rush and Levin to hack them off...brilliant. i thought the in-fighting among libertarians was something, but the conservatives have them beat; hands down. Obama's second term will be the result.

Beck is a true patriot, Rush is a self promoter par excellence. And I like both of them.

Nuts isn’t it? They have taken their eye off the ball. Instead they treat us as though we are too dumb to know the difference between repubs and dems.

Geesh

I can only get Levin when I'm in the car, but I love and adore him. I did hear him take Beck to task the other day and was glad someone finally came out said what I felt.

You're right, we don't need a talk show host to guide us, but that's because we're fabulous. Its the undecideds and people just finding their way who are vulnerable.

Beck has scared me since I noticed he was encouraging his "9/12" crowds to Boo the good Republicans who deserved praise.

BUZZ!!!! The Democrats and Republicans are the same. The Republicans spend too much.

This was the funniest and most effective jab at Beck’s efforts to divide the conservative movement by weakening its only political arm (which is warts and all the Republican party).

Talk show/TV hosts, while acknowledging Republicans have done things wrong in the past, shouldn't be equating Republicans with what Obama, Pelosi and Reed are hoisting upon America and Americans NOW.

Republicans are NOT equally traitorous to our CIA (Pelosi again today), FBI and military and are NOT destroying America's freedoms, finances, and national security as are democrats NOW.

While Americans go without jobs, India's offshore outsourcing business is booming

Indian offhsorers want to offshore outsource US government contracts and more American jobs

Your TARP money at work - Outsourcing jobs overseas

Bailed out banks still shipping jobs
