Virtually unknown a year ago, Glenn Beck has rapidly risen to the top of the right-wing punditocracy. Witness his keynote address at CPAC, where the Fox News titan assailed Republicans and Democrats alike and called for a return to bedrock conservative values. Though conservatives bloggers were nonplussed by Beck's attacks on the right, most praised at least some elements of his speech.
Solution... weed out the ‘sucky’ Republicans and replace them with ‘nonsucky’ Conservatives.
See, problem solved!
The criticism is used to identify the ‘sucky’ members and to get rid of them. Keeping quiet provides the cover they need to stay in power.
I guess Levin wants to keep all our Socialists(R) in power? Never woulda figured he was that way.
There are some Republicans who would vote for cap and trade. Most would not.
If you ever find a party that agrees with you 100%, let me know.
The cap and trade bill is going nowhere in the senate.
Immigration? I don’t know. But I’ll be damned if I can respect someone who lumps guys like Demint and Coburn with guys like Reid and Schumer.
Glen Beck is a flash in the pan. I have never watched his show but I listen to him on the radio, at least for an hour or so until he makes me so mad I turn it off.
Republican turnout was low and voting for 3rd party candidates was up. Both parties saw a huge increase in voter Registration, yet the large increase in voter turnout only occured for the Democrats. Turnout actually decreased for the Republicans.
Dem voter turnout soared to 31.3%.
Rupublican voter turnout was expected to soar based on registrations, but actually DECLINED 1.3% from 2004, to only 28.7%
Many Republicans stayed home.
Here is a link to a report embeded on CNN that discusses voter turnout for the 2008 presidential election:
I would have posted the pdf itself, but I still don’t know how to do that without a link. So click on the word “here” in the sentence “Click here to read the entire report” which follows the 1st paragraph on the page.
The report states:
“A downturn in the number and percentage of Republican oters going to the polls seemed to be the primary explanation for the lower than predicted turnout. The percentage of eligible citizens voting Republican declined to 28.7 percent down 1.3 percentage points from 2004.”
“Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 percentage points from 28.7 percent of eligibles to 31.3 percent. It was the seventh straight increase in the Democratic share of the eligible vote since the partys share dropped to 22.7
percent of eligibles in 1980.”
As for the hosts, I like them all, listen to Boortz & Rush, can't get Levin but have his book, listen to Hannity's homage to himself when I can't avoid it. For them to engage in infighting is to be expected; they are all media, they are all entertainers, they all fight for ratings.
But I damned sure don't let them influence my views.
Fine, but how do YOU accomplish that by arguing on this forum?
Please tell me how this is helping.
Talk is cheap...especially from the sidelines by spectators like yourself.
If the Republicans are truly different, then they ought to be proving it, not complaining about someone saying it.
After all, it should be SO VERY EASY to prove, right? Child’s play, even. So what the are they waiting for?
Okay, I am done with this BS, You all flame each other and see how that works out for you.
I have learned more about American history, the Framers, the Progressive movement history, Obama’s Czars, the national debt, etc from Beck than any one else on Radio or TV.
The best part is, he is never boring, so I never turn his show off.
Oh my! LMAO!
Certainly your choice in a free country.
Or in other words, there would be no Tea Party movement if Republicans hadn’t sucked so much that Conservatives had to come out and hold their feet to the fire.
And the choice of millions others based on his show ratings.
No, the Free Republic is a CONSERVATIVE site.
Please tell me how YOU are doing this and if it works I'll be more than glad to pitch in and help you do it.
Shame on you! You are NOT a 'Great American'. LOL!
Oh, is it? Could have fooled me. Hey Mitt Romney is better than Obama, I can’t argue that, so why waste my time arguing stuff that is not going to matter anymore.
It is, we take the GOP at face value, or we get RATs. ugh
And how many times does it take accepting the GOP’s word and having it mean squat before you wake up?
Once, twice, three times?
After 2004, 2006, and 2008... I no longer take the GOP’s word, I research all the candidates before finding the one that best matches my politics. If the GOP wants my vote, they better offer up truly conservative (small government, pro-growth, no nanny-state) candidates.
And they better be specific on how their platform and it’s planks.
Beck damn near beat O’Reilly in the ratings on Tuesday...
re: Solution... weed out the sucky Republicans and replace them with nonsucky Conservatives.
I think you make Rush’s point. How will you personally “weed” out the “sucky” republicans? Which candidates are you going to replace them with? What’s your plan to accomplish this?
Like Rush said, if he’s doing such a “sucky” job - what are you doing to do to fix it?
Also, you really think republicans are the same as democrats? - that Jim DeMitt is the same as Harry Reid, that Scott Brown is the same as Nancy Pelosi? So, I ask again, who are the candidates you are going to get nominated? How are you personally going to do this?? Is your only plan to keep sending emails to Rush and FreeRepublic telling him and Mark Levine that they and the republicans all suck?
