If you can’t tell if a floor mat caused your problem you should take a driving class, or quit driving.

It's never happened to you has it? You're on the Interstate, in bumper to bumper traffic at 70 mph, and all of sudden, without warning, your car is accelerating, petal to the metal. That's better than 80 feet per second. No where to go, and no time to think it through. Seriously, I agree on the whole, but it's a very disconcerting experience, and a lot gets lost in the adrenaline of the moment.

The description most of the drivers give really do make it sound like some sort of computer glitch. Perhaps a spurious signal from a passing cell phone tower or some tv repair guy's two-way radio, a nearby garage door opener. Who knows, but it sure is scary!

It's a perfect scenario for high level corporate sabotage or just a single disgruntled employee. The most difficult thing in the world to pin down in a computer is the irregularly irregular glitch that strikes without warning and then doesn't show up again or a long time.
