(WXYZ) - The FBI is confirming raids at the offices of three Michigan auto suppliers who do work for Toyota.
Search warrants were served Tuesday evening at Yazaki North America, DENSO International and Tokai Rika. Yazaki sells electronic components and DENSO makes accelerator pedals.
Denso has released the following statement about the situation "DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM), U.S. subsidiary of DENSO Corporation, was inspected on February 23, 2010 by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice in regard to U.S. antitrust laws. DIAM is cooperating with this investigation."

Ummm, I hate to burst anyone’s bubble here, but (according to the FBI and one of the suppliers in question), this is part of an antitrust investigation, and is unrelated to the Toyota recall.

Too bad Toyota isn’t affiliated with ACORN.
Don't think so....read that one of the suppliers that manufactured the possible faulty circuits and/or accelerator pedals IS a union shop....and that there may be corporate hanky-panky here...as Toyota is a non-union company.

The Lexus factories are north of the border in Ontario. This raid might convince Toyota to pack up for a more business-friendly environment in Canada.

IF I was Japan.....I would do the following
Launch a surprise attack on Hawaii and take the Birth Certificate of one Barack Hussein Barry Sotero/Obama.
Suspend the purchase of any new debt from the USA.
Boot the USA from its embassy in Japan.
Eliminate the USA from its base in Japan.

That would be the case of the Ford Pinto. The difference here is that there was no Government ownership of Automakers and NO police state raids.
Denso actually makes a number of items for GM including spark plugs and other electronic parts.

It would only take only a couple of lines of code to wreak havoc. Short of dumping the code and having someone who knows what they're looking for examine it, who knows what kind of mischief is embedded.
I would think they would have a valid hash code for each and every version of the software, but who knows. A hash code is a 16 digit, more or less, number that's unique to the contents of the file. Change one byte and the has is totally different. I still have an old copy of a hash code program from the computers I worked on in the mid-80’s. Very handy tool for seeing comparing files or knowing very quickly if a file has changed.
The average person is clueless as to how much a modern car depends on a computer to do.
I had a 1988 Honda Accord that suddenly sped up, full throttle, on me one day when I was on the Interstate. Talk about scary. I took it in and they assured me the floor mat had gotten tangled up with the accelerator and that the end of of that. I went for months waiting for it to happen again. Gosh, you would think by now they would have some means of assuring the floor mat and accelerator or brake or clutch pedals could not interfere with each other.
This could be a really tough one to figure out, but I would start by looking at the thousands of lines of code that control the computer.
