Poll: Rand Paul Easily Leads in Senate Race
By David Weigel 2/24/10 11:05 AM
For some reason, Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul never gets called the "frontrunner" in that race. Secretary of State Trey Grayson, seen as the favorite of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), still receives that title. But it's another day and another poll -- this one from Magellan Strategies -- showing Paul crushing Grayson. He has a nearly 2-1 lead, 44 percent to Grayson's 23 percent, and a whopping 31-point net favorable rating to Grayson's 11-point net favorable rating.
The secret to Paul's success? He's not seen as a fringe candidate, but as an embodiment of the Tea Parties -- which have a 67 percent favorable rating among GOP primary voters. And he's aided by the endorsement of Sarah Palin. Twenty-eight percent of Kentucky Republicans favor Palin in a hypothetical 2012 primary to only 4 percent who favor Paul's father, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas).
The younger Paul has been running a pitch-perfect campaign. One example: his rapid-fire response to an ad in which Grayson accused Paul of supporting "Obama's war on coal". Another example is this closing answer at a debate in Paducah. Watch how Paul trains his focus on the parts of hardcore libertarianism most popular with Republican voters.

“Go Trey Grayson ! No more Paulbots in Congress !”
Right! Trey Greyson is exactly what we need: a former Democrat turned Establishment RINO/sarc.

Actually, I would like to see him elected. If he has half the gumption that his father has, it will keep him far from politicians. Hope is eternal (or in my case, maybe a few years...heh)...Oh, I think that he'll make a great Senator.
And, I think that Sarah Palin's endorsement will help to keep the Paul People willing to work within the Republican Party. ("Hey! Somebody -- the likely 2012 front-runner, at that -- is actually willing to listen to us! Yay!!")
This is good for the Paul People, good for the GOP, and good for Sarah Palin's support in 2012. IMHO.

Rand Paul is identical to his father on public policy. Scratch away the campaign rhetoric and this can easily be discerned.
Trey Grayson responded to the Reagan Revolution by becoming a leader of the Democrats at Harvard. He responded to Clintonism by becoming a Democrat supporter of Clinton. He'll be whatever he has to be to obtain power.
Bill Johnson is the true Reagan personhood pro-life, peace through strength, constitutionalist, moral conservative, Reaganite in this race.
Since these folks didn't bother to even include him, and Johnson's campaign has real traction on the ground in KY, this poll is completely worthless, except as a campaign tool to be used by the Paulites to fool people.

Sarah usually knows what butts need kicking. She just has a blind spot with McCain.I think that's not so much a "blind spot" as showing personal loyalty to a previous benefactor.
Any debt of honor that Sarah Palin might have felt that she owed to McCain, is now paid off in full. IMHO.

Well, since we both agree that Trey Grayson is RINO trash, then I’ll just say this: I hope that Bill Johnson beats Trey Grayson for second place. Doubt that will happen, but I wish him well.

Yes, I think that you are right on all points!

I love Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin endorsed McCain for reelection in AZ, and she endorsed this Truther-supported PaleoLibertoon jackass in KY. Too bad she got hoodwinked into supporting these two boobs.

I’ve been here since, ‘98, n00b. I suggest you take your Paleokook Surrenderist Truther-supported candidate that the KY Democrats are SALIVATING to run against and hit the bricks.

Nope, she made two wrong choices, n00b.I'm not such a n00b, that I can't tell that Sarah Palin's support runs wide and deep here on Free Republic.
So, like I said -- If you want to spend all your time bashing Sarah Palin's endorsed candidates, I'm sure there's plenty of Democrat websites where you can bash Palin's choices to your heart's content. The Dems will probably give you a standing ovation.
To: Christian_Capitalist
So you support John McCain, n00b ?

Both GOP Hopefuls Lead Democrats in Kentucky Senate Race, but Rand Paul Does Best.
Apparently, all you care about is bashing Palin's endorsed candidates, whether that contributes to GOP victory or not.

So you support John McCain, n00b ?I support whichever GOP candidate opposes the Democrat candidate for US Senate in Arizona, yes.
