Reporting from Washington - The Senate on Wednesday passed a jobs bill that one senator described as "modest," but one that Democrats hope will be the first in a series of attempts to jump-start hiring nationwide. More notable, perhaps, than the bill itself was the fact that 13 Republicans crossed party lines to vote for it. The $15-billion bill passed by a 70-28 tally. The bill would grant employers a "holiday" on their 6.2% Social Security payroll contribution for every new employee hired through the rest of the year, as long as that employee has been out of work for at least 60 days. It would also make it easier for businesses to write off equipment purchases and would extend federal highway and mass-transit funding programs. "For the first time in a long time we have a bill that is supported by both Democrats and Republicans," said Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said shortly before the vote, but he cautioned, "This is not a magic wand that is going to be waved and all our joblessness will decline." White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the vote proved that bipartisanship in the Senate is "possible." It also marked a victory for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who has seen his chamber paralyzed by partisan warfare. Reid pushed for the vote counting on some GOP support and was rewarded earlier this week when several Republicans, including the newest senator, Scott Brown of Massachusetts, signed on...

Does anyone need anymore proof the OP(formerly the GOP) and the RATs are two sides of the same coin? Why do so many insist on returning to the very party who have eschewed Conservative principles for years? It’s the political version of battered wife syndrome.
“The problem is that there is too much crap to put up with (including taxes fees and paperwork)...”
Boy howdy. Unemployment, worker’s comp, social security, medicare, OSHA, failing to show up for work, doing a crappy job, employee theft etc.
wow
“I am soooooooo glad he isnt running again. If we could just get rid of I just dont get it Claire!”

ACORN Claire might be tougher to get rid of, unless the Republicans start standing up against the ingrained Democrat corruption.
Bond has become a perfect example of the get-along Beltway mentality.
My jobs bill.......
1. Cut taxes and mindlessly numbing rules
2. Drastically cut corporate taxes
3. Eliminate 1/2 of government entitlements (to begin with)
4. Cut taxes and mindlessly numbing rules.
HEY WASHINGTON!!!!!! WE”RE BROKE!!!!!!! STOP ALREADY!!!!
Let’s just become socialist already and been done with all this.
I is incredible how we always fall into line. I really do not want to think that in 2012 Romney will be the GOP candidate, but he probably will be, that is after we all have all those hopes invested in others.
I do not yet see anything has changed.
I am happy the GOP has held on healthcare, they have because of the polling. If it were closer, would they? I have my doubts. The New England twins and Juan would already be trotting across the aisle and the GOP would be telling us that we made some impact on the poop sandwich if nothing else.
The GOP would be telling us all that it could have been worse. Yeah, right.
They just need to stop crying about it.
Agreed!
Running for governor. Kind of behind but picking up steam after Medina supernovad

Ha. Scott Brown wasn't even the 29th vote, much less the "41st vote."
KBH is in Texas lying her @** off trying to get elected to the governors office. The best thing that RINO can do is stay away from DC for now.
