The HomoCon Tipping Point: Why CPAC Was a Milestone Weekend for Gays
Big Journalism ^ | Feb 23, 2010 | Bruce Carroll

Posted on 02/23/2010 12:24:11 PM PST by DesertRenegade

(excerpt) This moment at CPAC is even more important for the conservative movement as it happened at an important time when there is already a generational change going on in America. Boomers are fading, Xer’s are ruling, and Millenials are finding their way. Forty-eight percent of those who participated in the CPAC straw poll last week identified themselves as students. They are the future of conservativism. And they shouted down an anti-gay bigot.

There will surely be other homocon-related clashes within the conservative movement, just as the Democrat Party has regularly used the gay community as pawns in their re-election schemes for decades. But as the late gay political icon Harvey Milk, who started out as a Republican, famously said:

Gay people, we will not win our rights by staying silently in our closets… We are coming out. We are coming out to fight the lies, the myths, the distortions. We are coming out to tell the truths about gays, for I am tired of the conspiracy of silence, so I’m going to talk about it. And I want you to talk about it. You must come out. Come out to your parents, your relatives.

Last week at CPAC we saw the many years of work by dedicated conservative gays and lesbians standing up for their values and the principles of freedom and liberty finally pay off. There was a tipping point for gays in America last week at CPAC. It happened because they have been coming out to their parents, friends and relatives over time… as American conservatives who just happen to be gay.

“If you applaud the paramilitarization of domestic police forces”

A SWAT officer once saved my cousins life.

“and see no problem with no-knock raids and civil asset forfeiture prior to any conviction in a court of law,”

Don’t smoke dope. You see, it is my firm belief that to Liberaltarians what you posted are symptoms of the thing that you folks hate the most, the drug war.

I’ve been right all these years. You scratch a Liberaltarian and you will find a pothead that just wants to get fried and not be hassled by “the man.”

“and advocating the undermining of Constitutional protections”

Where did I advocate for that? Do you have a constitutionally protected right to smoke dope?

John Hancock.

A man who drank rum from morning to night. A man who was a rum runner.

America’s Founder, John Hancock.

Hooray for Liberty!

Natural Law does NOT ban drugs. It does ban sexual perversion.

“Natural Law does NOT ban drugs.”

Is there not a Liberaltarian forum for you folks?

In your zeal to prosecute a certain sort of crime, that you find particularly odious, you’re willing to throw every protection from abusive governmental authority out the window. It’ll come back to bite you, and me, and every other citizen who just wants to live a reasonably free life, without constant intrusion.

Here’s an exercise for you: substitute “pothead” with any leftist bogeyman you can come up with. Chances are, you can plausibly be categorized as one or several of them. Abuse of authority does not stop with the crimes you deem worthy of authoritarian abuse. It spreads. History shows us that.

You deserve everything you’re asking for, here, if you can’t see this.

And, for the record, I do not smoke marijuana. I do, however, believe global warming is a scam, that abortion is wrong, that homosexuality is immoral and that Janet Napolitano is a dangerously incompetent boob who would raid my house because I fit her particular take on “extremist” for believing the aforementioned.

Chances are, you do too, otherwise you wouldn’t be a FReeper.

I have a Constitutional right to be secure in my person, to be free from having my property seized for a supposed crime for which I have not even been tried, let alone convicted.

This is what you’re advocating. You’re no conservative. You’re authoritarian, at best.

“You are more of a tyrannist. And you have not idea what Natural Law means, do you?”

I’ve been around enough to know not to argue with pothea....uh, Liberaltarians so I am quitting this thread after this post.

I will leave you with these questions to which I expect no answers, then I am quitting this thread;

1. Are Liberatarians truly defenders of the Constitution or (like hippies) do you just smoke pot and smell bad?

2. Have you lost your way, the reason you became a Liberaltarian, just so that you can get high on your drug of choice?

3. Is that as noble a cause as the original purpose of the Liberaltarians?

In addition:

Romans

26God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural. 27Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.

I suspect it’s just a generational thing, old age brain lock.

How anybody thinks we can have the Soviet Union for one sort of crime, but still be safe and secure in our beliefs and possessions under the Constitution when accused of other crimes, or even trumped up violation of regulations, is beyond me.

"...the Conservative movement can only succeed if it only includes those people that are morally pure. ..."

you are way off base. the Conservative movement can only succeed if it includes those people that make a sincere attempt to be morally pure.

Homosexuality is a constant vice, like the flowing of a river. It is not an isolated event.

I believe the government has no place in my life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

No public roads, no prisons, no military, no border patrol, no government schools?

Oh wait, I favor abolishing government schools. Guess I agree with the Libertarians about something. :)

Unfortunatly, I have to pay taxes. In exchange for these taxes paid, I expect certain services. I expect to able to get to work on a road that does not destroy my vehicle ( I live in michiganstan, and they have not maintained the roads here since I was a young man ), I expect police protection, I expect fire protection, and ambulance service...that is about all I expect for my taxes....perhaps I could have worded this a little better..When someone agrees with you 50% of the time, they are your ally, and my big problem here lately are people trying to alienate the libertarians from conservatives...we are indeed joined at the hip. If we are not joined at the hip, then we are cousins with each other. Lets go get the rino’s instead of ripping each other apart..
