Juan Williams Predicts Obama Landslide, Calls GOP Presidential Field A “Wasteland”

Juan Williams has absolutely no faith in the 2012 Republican presidential field. He brought a healthy dose of “fair and balanced” to the FOX News Sunday Panel Plus online-exclusive segment yesterday, where he predicted to his bemused colleagues that, despite their high hopes, if they didn’t find a respectable candidate soon, Barack Obama would win reelection in a landslide.

While the rest of the panel – Bill Kristol and Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard, NPR’s Mara Liasson, and host Chris Wallace – shrugged it off with laughter, it was a pretty fearless point to make riding on the heels of one of the most successful CPACs in recent memory and in a year where dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party has fed a massive Tea Party resistance movement and launched Republican Scott Brown from Massachusetts into the Senate.

Williams seemed to have been pushed into making this argument not by the successes of Sarah Palin or propositions that Mitt Romney still has a viable shot at the presidency, but at Kristol’s suggestion that Texas governor Rick Perry, who has advocated for Texas secession in the not-so-distant past, could make a splash in the presidential pool. While Romney and Mike Huckabee have the traditional advantage of being runners-up from 2008, Kristol argued, Perry’s decade in the governor’s seat would put him in a “pretty strong position to run for President.”

I have worrid the pubs won’t unite with a candidate and being around here increases that worry. Many trash anyone but their candidate. They don’t seem to see how high the stakes are in the next election. Thus you see people saying unless the candidate is theirs, they will stay home.

I have yet to see an exciting candidate but I will vote republican even if it is a warmed over stroked out John McCain. Anybody but Barry.

Well, now that both Dodd and Williams agree that Obama will win in 2021, I’ll just stay home on election day, no sense voting if my vote will be overwhelmed by the Obama camp. (yeah, riiight.)

While Juan’s views are faith based and not logical, who on the Republican’s side is a solid candidate?

Ron Paul who ran distant to John McCain?

Saral Palin? Not a chance.

I think Fox keeps Williams around for comedy relief.

He’s known as Wong Wei Juan in China. Loosely translated: Man who’s missing the chop in his suey.

Think back to 1992 before the democrat primaries even started. They were jokingly being refered to as "The race to be the person to lose to Pres. Bush".

Anyone claiming a Presidential re-election in 3 years time is talking out their ass. As Juan regularly does.

Post 69.

Maybe I missed it, but which of 68 posts provided any evidence to the contrary.

The post merely make personal attackes against Juan Moron.

Who is the Republican candidate? Forget who said it.

Fox needs to fire that idiot.

I disagree. Juan exposes himself well as a classic liberal. He's a good reminder of why conservatives have to remain vigilant and not be complacent. Besides, I love to watch old Juan come unhinged whenever Brent bitch slaps him with a cold dose of conservative logic.

I don’t know about the first, but the second seems a distinct possibility. He’d better not benefit from it. Plus, with an energized Republican Congress coming in in Nov., he might endear himself to the voting public by proxy. I hope it doesn’t happen.

Did Carter get a Rep. congress in ‘78?

Oh, poor Juan. It would be easier for him if he actually recognized reality. Who was the dems’ great presidential hope in 2002? No one. In 2006? Hillary, who’s now stumbling around third world countries accepting flowers from little girls. It’s a long time until 2012.

Brent?

I also liked it when Brit Hume slapped him with a cold dose of conservative logic. He keeps talking though. It’s an asset to his side, but the man cannot be intimated.

On the other hand, you can’t beat something with nothing. And who do the Republucans have?

My thoughts too, after the straw poll at CPAC...that trotted out all the same tired retreads.

We don't need the same old establishment candidates. We need totally new, outside the establishment, REAL Americans candidates...

Mitt> NO

Huck? NO

Pawlenty? NO

Jindle (however it's spelled) NO

Paul? HELL NO!

Nothing more than a black guy who is hating that Obama is an abject failure.

Juan is actually not an unintelligent guy. He knows Obama is a failure and it will take an October surprise to get him reelected.

Juan is hoping to be Press Secretary in the next Obama administration.

Really, it’s embarrassing how he laps up the Obama Koolaid.
