The facts do not suggest that America is any less safe under the leadership of President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Sunday.
Powell said that a number of security programs set up under former President George W. Bush, including the Transportation Security Administration, are working well and the U.S. troops are aggressively pursuing the enemy.
I dont know where that claim comes from, Powell said. The bottom line answer is that the nation is still at risk..but to suggest that somehow weve become much less safer because of the administration isnt born out by the facts.
Powell indicated that he supports trying the suspected terrorists being held at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in the federal court system, but said he would hold the trials in remote locations.
The Obama administration originally planned to try Al Qaeda suspect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in Manhattan before back-pedaling due to pushback from the public.
I have no problem with him being tried in our court system
I would not have picked downtown New York, said Powell, adding that the heavily populated area would have become a circus.
Obama was required by Goldwater-Nichols to submit a National Security Strategy by July 2009. None has been submitted nor published.
What strategy is Powell referring to?
That’s Powell-speak for “please, give me a job, Obama, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze!”
>>What strategy is Powell referring to?<<
The strategy of a fellow black man.
powell gave up his quals as a man of integrity when he decided to vote for the TOTUS-reader whose only quality was the color of his skin (ignoring 1/2 of course).
This dorf must be angling for the Chief of Staff job (opening after Rahmbo gets canned).
Affirmative action generals should be FIRED or demoted.. or at least retired..
LOL! And those are only two of his better qualities.
He rendered himself so irrelavant with his October 2008 surprise by backstabbing exactly the type of RINO candidates he thinks Republicans should always nominate.
Go away, Colin. Nobody cares what you think anymore. Once upon a time, I thought you actually might make a decent president. Now, I don't even think you would make a decent dog catcher.
Sorry General Powell, you’re merely one of many useful idiots to Obama. You’re usefulness is long over.
Racial solidarity trumps every other principle for Colin Powell.
He's hardly unique in that respect. We're still proceeding along with Bush's 2006 NSS.
yeah, well we aren’t any safer, either.
Didn’t Obama promise us we would be loved the world over, with him playing nicey-nice at the helm?
Don’t see it, Powell....
Me thinks Colin is speaking out of his colon.
I remember a time when Powel’s name was being thrown around for president, really just because he’s black. Now just today I have read the same thing about Marco Rubio. Beware of identity politics - the object of your affection will usually put race before anything else.
Unless it is left-wing, marxist, socialist ideology. That will trump anything & everything... race, color, creed, family, blood, nationality, etc.
If it was a conservtative black (and yes, are some conservative blacks running now for political office) you won't see Colin (turncoat) Powell within a 1,000 miles of endorsing any conservative, black, white, red, yellow or brown. He or she would need two vital characteristics to get the vast majority of black votes..... 1) They're socialists and 2) They're black.
do I ditect a band-wagon..didn’t Powell vote FOR Obama?..??
Colin talks much more good than most people.
I’d rather have Gen. Powell advising the President than the dingdongs he usually listens to.
