I registered as a Democrat in AZ just so I could vote for the weaker candidate in the primaries. That’s gonna change as I want Mscain OUT.

It is my understanding that if you registered as an Independent, you couldn’t vote in the primaries, but I hear that has changed, so I might go Indy just to tweak the Pubbies.

On a separate note, one thing that impressed me with GOA - something that the NRA never did - and that was to send me a postcard urging me to vote for a local judge who had a good gun-rights record. Those are also the guys to support, but info is sometimes scarce.

There is an article on FR from yesterday that the AZ GOP may be closing the primary to independents. Check before you switch.

My understanding is if you are registered Indy, you can select either Dem or Rep in the primary this August. If you are a registered Dem or Rep, you can only vote in your own primary. I wouldn't want to se you bumped from either, so I suggest going to the Sec of State website to verify how the rule is being interpreted this year.

Voting rule interpretation has been abused pretty badly these last few cycles. Last election they refused to let me vote because the address printed on the front of my Driver License wasn't correct, even though I had made my changes of address in a fully legal and proper way with MVD. I eventually got to vote because I had back-up forms of ID available.
