The government is not trying to destroy the nuclear family. The government is not putting a gun to the heads of irresponsible parents, mostly men, saying you are now forced to no longer provide for your family and you are forced to father as many children as you want. Get real. The reality is that a large percentage of men do not accept their responsibilities as they once did. REALITY. Now stuff your reality and your other pompous attitude comments exactly where they belong.

CPAC has lost all credibility. They are neocons. Neocons got us in this mess to begain with. The neocon way is political death.

>Libertarian critics point to the necessity of a certain level of government power for infrastructure and defense needs, but there is certainly no connection with socialism in any libertarian criticism - the two political philosophies are headed in diametrically opposite directions.<

If souls are not sufficiently controlled from within, they will inevitably controlled from without. It is a charter of the born again church to effect the former, by both bring souls to yield to the Spirit of Christ, and indirectly by influencing the formation of conscience, while to the State is given the sword of men, without which is really is powerless. The two work together, but the former is not to employ the means of the latter, nor may the State require formal adherence to one religion.

As even the Unitarian (which were then not so liberal) “Father of the Common School,” Horace Mann stated, “it may not be easy theoretically, to draw the line between those views of religious truth and of Christian faith which is common to all, and may, therefore, with propriety be inculcated in schools, and those which, being peculiar to individual sects, are therefore by law excluded; still it is believed that no practical difficulty occurs in the conduct of our schools in this regard.” (Stephen V. Monsma, J. Christopher Soper, “The Challenge of Pluralism: Church and State in Five Democracies”, The Unites States, cp. 2, p. 21)

It is impossible for the State to not enforce general moral beliefs, but in a democracy the people effectively decide what that shall be, whether the morality of general Christian (esp. evangelical) faith which America reflected (and which supports separation of powers), and its basic interpretive grid, or that which allows the Constitution to be silly putty, among other things.

In short, unless one wants anarchy, smaller government requires a strong evangelical church, not an institutionalized form which promote liberalism. http://peacebyjesus.witnesstoday.org/RevealingStatistics.html#Sec4

I am shocked that CPAC would let this happen, just yesterday i was listening to Anne Coulter calling into the Sean Hannity show from CPAC.
I thought CPAC was a premier conservative gathering.
What happened, i know money was involved but it goes against conservative values, does CPAC not know this or not care?

>we can condemn the homosexual agenda without condemning homosexuals for their personal choices.<

So are we to do the same for the adulterer? Or fornication in general? The promoting of homosexuality is deleterious to both individual and country, and being opposed to higher taxes or excessive gov. control is secondary to moral decline, and the latter will and is resulting in increased government. God controlled or gun controlled.

God I hate to post this because I know I'll take flak but in Grad School we had to watch a movie called "Shattered Glass" about Steven Glass who made up stories for the New Republic (Far Left Magazine).

There is a scene at CPAC where "young republicans" are doing coke and hire a fat ugly hooker. I think that about sums it up to what CPAC has become. Steven Glass made up a story about young republicans and fat hookers, I guess his imagination has caught up with reality.

I guess CPAC now strives for irrelevancy too.

In a way, I’m a little more pleased that I never involved myself much with them.

There is truth in that by offering so many benefits to fatherless families - AFDC especially - this have given men and woman an excuse to be irresponsble; “I/you can always get welfare”.

Any charity or handouts should be given to the poor only by private charities, NOT the government. Private charities can choose who they give what to, have standards, and so on. And with the reduction in taxes once all those entitlements cease, people can afford more donations to their charities of their choice.

Wow... I wasn’t trying to be rude, or pompous. I apologize.

The government’s attack on the family:
1.) The attack on religion and religious rights.(religious faith is essential in keeping families strong and healthy)
2.) The promoting of abortion. (allowing children to have abortions without parental consent or knowledge of the procedure occurring)
3.) The school system and the systematic destruction of parental rights. (attacks on homeschooling etc.)
4.) The welfare system

This isn’t only about personal responsibility. Even families that stay together have a very hard time raising their children as the government is continually attacking their ability to be good parents.

I’m telling you, the government is actively destroying the nuclear family. And I’m not trying to be pompous. I just have strong feelings about this.

Yes the government is providing the carrot, but no one is forcing people to be irresponsible. People are making this choice on their own and it is because we have given a pass to the irresponsible people. It is cool to father kids and skip out on them. It is cool to abandon your family for whatever reason. It is cool to give birth to a child when you are still in high school. It is cool to be on welfare. etc. There has been little effort on the part of society to same these irresponsible people other than some shaming of women because it is their fault they got pregnant, but no shaming of the other responsible party. The truth is that men, and to a lesser extent women, are not the men/women of the past. A lot of people in my generation, the baby boomers, are spoiled and selfish. Things and the next trill are what they are after. Being a grownup and being responsible is not a thrill. The downward spiral of society is accelerating.

Didn't we see this coming? It's only been a few years since homosexuals organized and implemeted this strategy of theirs.

They positioned themselves as a “minority oppressed” group in the same league as African Americans seeking redress/equality/etc. They got some scientists to say that homosexuality was genetic. They infiltrated political groups on both sides along with cacademia...and the gullible churches. Basically they followed “rules for the radicals” better than any other subversive group. Infiltrate and take over institutions.

I have strong feelings about personal responsibility. Every time we give a pass to an irresponsible choice by blaming it on someone or something else, we are perputation the problems. Choices like your dad made should be applauded, he chose to be a man. Choices to the contrary should be condemned. Applaud or condemn the individuals for the choices THEY make.
