The Web was studded with praise for Stack almost immediately after his plane slammed into the Austin office complex Thursday morning. The admiring salutes appearing on sites ranging from Facebook to the pages of extremist groups reflect what experts say is an "explosive growth" in the anti-government patriot movement.
On another FReeper post, someone brought up a link from the DU, in which someone over there actually knew the guy (played in his band and flew the band around, too, I believe). So, I went to the FReeper's link and copied the following from it.
Anyone who says that he was someone from the right wing, may want consider this post #27, that came out of a FReeper thread on this subject... :-)
In looking at that link you provided, apparently a DU member has a band and this guy played in the band and also flew the group around in his plane. This is what he said...
I won't defend what he did because there's no defense of it, but Joe wasn't a teabagger he wasn't left or right wing. He very obviously had some serious problems and it's a real tragedy especially for the innocent victims, but the manifesto was all over the board politically. Joe played in my band for about 3 years and was mostly apolitical. I hate what he did and had no idea at the level of dispair he was feeling.
I've now spent the last 30 hours answering questions about what he was like. He obviously cracked....severly, but any political militancy he had was recent and seems to suggest mental illness rather than activism.
Again I'm not defending what he did I'm just telling you what it looks like from my end.

The American Revolution was not brought about by mainstream people, but those who took extreme measures in search of liberty.
Mainstream people won’t take action but they will condemn those that do.
And I can almost predict your response will be on the lines of, “...so your saying...”.

And I mean no offense to anybody that considers themselves to be conservative, but like I said >99% of the time< they are Liberals. If your husband enjoys looking like a stereotypical Liberal, so be it. Maybe someday he’ll get tired of looking like one of “them” that he’ll resort to being clean shaven. Just a harmless thought.

So true! But the folks you speak of were incredibly courageous, honorable, brave, and self sacrificing.
They were not KOOKS and COWARDS as was joe stack. This guy was a spoiled, self centered, self pitying, fool.

When 99% of the people I meet that have a beard are Liberals, I’d say you have an uphill battle. Good luck to you. Unless you consider yourself a “bearded spy” than I congratulate you and wish you the most “spy luck” that I can.
Hubby looks like a stereotypical logger and has worn a beard most of his adult life for the extra insulation. Beard does not automatically mean “liberal”. It just means beard. Conservative beards do tend to get scruffier. Perhaps it’s the whole grooming thing that’s throwing your assessments off.

I’m sorry. Perhaps when I wrote the number phrase “99%” I didnt make it clear enough that it didnt mean 100%. There are extremes on both ends of the spectrum, just as there are Liberals who occasionally shave (and take a bath). Forgive me for not being as forthright with you as I could have been.
Perhaps in the future, rather than use the number phrase 99%, I will instead use the phrase. “Almost all, with the exception of a few, that is to say, not quite everybody but mostly everybody with the exception of a few”. I’m sure that will clear most, if not all, (with the exception of only a few, you understand) the confusion up. Wouldn’t you agree?

Within the files of the SPLC include any non-leftist in a leadership or activist position. Their intelligence is derived solely from media accounts. In the past, they would send trolls into meetings, but only get documented information they can use in a negative light.
Their revenue is made primarily by setting up events (including speeches at religious institutions and law enforcement seminars) and playing on the given fears of the audience. This at times can be a win-win for some law enforcement agencies, as the SPLC fear mongering can justify more funding against such a ‘heightened threat’.
There only credibility lies in the media that gives it to them, which over the years has been fewer and fewer.
They have the luxury of never being questioned on their motivation, or agenda. They have learned never to debate their political adversaries. It’s very telling the Fox's BOR even had them on his program. Their surrogates don’t normally get interviewed on camera – unless they know the questions in advance.
The SPLC serves no other purpose but to make anyone politically left of center appear violent,dangerous and fit the template of a terrorist.
When it comes to real terrorists, this organization went out of their way to show examples Muslims who were ‘victims’ of discrimination. In the past, they have referred copies of the U.S. Constitution as anti-government documents. They have referred to volunteers protecting the southern border as ‘potential terrorists’. They led the fight in Alabama against Judge Roy Moore to have the Ten Commandments removed from the State Capitol, even resorting to using personal attacks against the Judge himself. They have found themselves in legal hot water more than once for slander.
The astute political reader should consider the SPLC in the same league with the likes of Media Matters. In fact, one should not be surprised if it were ever learned there is cross-pollination between the two organizations.
The visual proof of all their fear mongering and reporting has no credibility can easily be demonstrated by the fact that they still exists today.
