Former Vice President Dick Cheney said he hasn't made up his mind who he will support in the 2012 presidential election. When asked if he thought Sarah Palin was qualified, he punted. ---
Is Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Former Vice President Dick Cheney answered that question with an artful dodge this morning when he appeared on ABC's This Week.(see video below) "I haven't made a decision yet on whom I'm going to support for president next time around," he said to host Jonathan Karl. "Whoever it is is going to have to prove themselves capable of being President of the United States."
"And those tests will come during the course of the campaigns obviously," he continued. "I think all of the prospective candidates out there have a lot of work to do if in fact they are going to persuade a majority of Americans that they are ready to take on the world's toughest job."
You didn't think you'd get a yes or no on that question, did you? Come on

To 79 - Very good pts you’ve made.
I agree with Dick. Why already endorse someone so far away from the election. Has Sarah Palin even said she is running..nope..no one has come out and said they are running for sure, including Romney and Huckabee. Cheney would be stupid to come out now and say “Oh I’m rooting for this person” they all have to prove themselves if they want to become President..no matter who it is
And as for the accusation that those who have reservations about Palin concerning her inability or unwillingness to discuss her positions from the point of knowledge and facts are simply towing the liberal MSM line...shows that you are no different than the blind who worship Obama.
You're far more concerned with the platitudes than the substance.
The only thing is, Cheney never said anything of the kind.
You wanna try again?
Dick Cheney is too smart to give a definitive answer on Sarah Palin and her chances in 2012. Jon Karl was trying to snag Cheney on this one. Didn't work.
All Cheney said was that he hadn’t made up his mind about who he was going to support in 2012, and that all the candidates would have to prove themselves before he made a decision.
________
Yes, but you are ignoring that the question he was responding to was, “Is Sarah Palin qualified to be the president of the United States?”
Clearly he could have answered yes, but he has not made up his mind. He chose to not call her qualified.
Then why is Dick Cheney endoring and campaigning for Hutchinson as Texas Governor? You liberals are so self-assured that you understand conservatives. You think we don’t think women can be political leaders, but that’s simply not true.
From Maggie Thatcher all the way back to Deborah in the Old Testament, conservatives have a richer heritage of women in power than liberals.
agreed..if Sarah keeps a promise, she made a while back to Juan McCain that hurts her standing to many followers, how much more would she keep her promise to defend the constituion as president
Obama has not demonstrated basic knowledge of these subjects either.
Should we repeat that?
Her positions on what?
She had repeatedly made very clear, her positions on current issues in her Facebook postings(terrorism, war in Afghanistan, healthcare(remember “death panels”?), the massive deficits, out of control spending, etc etc). All you had t do was go read them, instead of simply mindlessly parroting liberal media talking points.
Should we say this about our own candidate? Do we now repeat the MSM Communists' line? Does a former governor need seasoning compared to 0kaka? Where's 0b0z0's seasoning? The only seasoning the Communist vampire needs is garlic.
This is like predicting who is going to win next seasons World series in Feb. The only team that is certian not to make it is the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Sarah has two years to either prove herself worthy of us supporting her. She looks good now, but two years is a life time in politics
But I will tell you this much, if the GOP goes RINO and pick Mitt or Huckabee, then they will assure a second term for Obama.
However, she's not shown me that she's ready for CIC.
In the meantime, damn the torpedoes, Go, Sarah, GO!!
I believe Bush asked him to put his name on the list too. Having said that I do agree he could have stepped down in 2004 due to his heart condition and let someone else in who whould run after Bush. There is also an other angle and that I think promises were probably made to Mccain to back off in 2004 in exchange for the GOP's full support in 2008. In hindsight, obviously a mistake if that' what really happened
As for Gov. Palin, I think he answerd the question just right, it is too early. In the meantime Sarah is doing just fine and should continue the course.
Very fair assessment at this point.
