I am so glad that carbon credit nonsense won’t take off, now that the global warming fraud was exposed. That was another obvious bubble banksters and politicians would love to create.

"Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.

And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming."

That's the money quote. It's all over.

Al Gore, John Kerry, and all other officials who were going to try and bind our economy with their fascists cap and trade should be jailed over this. They are a clear and present danger to the Republic.

Thank you for this post! Another chance for me to post this great metaphorical clip about the global warming advocates. They just won’t shut up, no matter how many times they get shot down.

Liberals will never, never, never admit that they were wrong. The “scientific” basis for this movement never existed, if one looked only cursorily at it; so it doesn’t matter if scientists are speaking the truth now. Things will be rationalized aside, like any bad religion. There could be a 1500’ thick sheet of ice on Manhattan, and most New Yorkers would point to carbon dioxide as the source.

Notes to Jonathan Petre:

(1)Colleagues say that the reason Professor Phil Jones has refused Freedom of Information requests is that he may have actually lost the relevant papers.

It isn't paper that was being asked for by the FOIA requests, it was the digitized raw data in that "central database" you mention...data which by the way ol' Phil HAS shared with "friendly" peers, just not critical ones. So the "my office ate my homework" excuse doesn't cut it.

(2)He also agreed that there had been two periods which experienced similar warming, from 1910 to 1940 and from 1975 to 1998, but said these could be explained by natural phenomena whereas more recent warming could not.

He further admitted that in the last 15 years there had been no ‘statistically significant’ warming, although he argued this was a blip rather than the long-term trend.

It is precisely that 1975 to 1998 period that the AGW crowd points to as proving man-made warming. If there hasn't been "any statistically significant warming" since 1998 ("the last 15 years"), then there isn't any "more recent warming" that needs explaining. Your statements here make no sense whatsoever, Jonathan. This whole article seems a collection of whiny excuses, wrapped in sloppy, sycophantic journalistic drivel.

"The dog ate them. No, really."

This is the same high degree of scholarly discipline that led to the firing of Michael Bellesiles ("Arming America") from Emory University. Good job, Dr. Jones. Your lies and deceit nearly destroyed the world's economy and caused billions of people to live poorer, harder lives. You get a spot in the dictionary beside Trofim Lysenko and Charles Dawson (Piltdown Man). You should be so proud of yourself.

On an IRS audit, “the dog ate my homework” excuse doesn’t work. In order to prove to the government that you have a tax deduction that lowers your taxes, good records are required. In order to prove to our government a theory designed to have us shell out billions, no records are required.

How convenient. This "professor" must think we're as gullible as the mush-headed students he indoctrinates every semester. Sorry professor, nobody believes your lame BS story.

Professor Jones told the BBC yesterday there was truth in the observations of colleagues that he lacked organisational skills, that his office was swamped with piles of paper and that his record keeping is ‘not as good as it should be’.

Isn't this similar to Sandy Berger's excuse? He was just so messy, said Clintonistas. Both belong in jail.
