During a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting today, Sen. Harry Reid offered up criticism of the ABA's process of evaluating nominees for the federal bench, saying whether the individual is qualified shouldn't depend on prior judicial experience.

Reid's comments came as he was introducing a nominee from Nevada, Gloria Navarro, the Blog of Legal Times reports.

“Having practiced law in Nevada, I know firsthand the importance of having fair and well-qualified judges practicing in our state, and across the country,” Reid said. “I thank Nancy and William for meeting with me to discuss the bar associations’ concerns and plans, and I look forward to working with them in the future to ensure our legal system is working for justice with the American people in mind.”

This her? ;)

“Recently crowned Miss Cougar America at a Palo Alto, CA, cougar convention, Gloria Navarro is preparing to embark on a 4-day, 3-night cruise in December aimed at matching older women with younger men.

Navarro called the crowning a “new beginning” as she accepted the award. Navarro was married for 20 years before a divorce left her single and looking for someone new reports the San Francisco Chronicle. “I went from soccer mom with short hair, flat-heeled shoes and fanny packs to cougar,” she said. “I believe every woman has a cougar in them — someone who doesn’t need a man for anything other than companionship.”

Rich Gosse, chairman of the Society of Single Professionals, has been working to pack his Cougar Cruise with plenty of cougars as well as “cubs,” the young men who love them. Gosse says he expects big results for this first cruise of its kind. “If you can’t make a connection on this cruise, you should take yourself directly to a monastery,” he told the Chicago Tribune. “

I thought Reid liked the ABA evaluations during the Bush administrations.

We'll make these words stick once we have control of our government again. Thanks redreno.

And therein lies a large part of the problem with the political system - too many lawyers and not enough businessmen.

We, in Mission Viejo, CA just recalled a tax and spend and corrupt lawyer and replaced him with a businessman.
