JENKINS TWP. – A man is facing an animal cruelty charge for allegedly killing a cat because it urinated on a wood pile, according to arrest records.

Township police allege David Robbins, 60, of Heather Highlands, used a trap to kill the cat on Dec. 22.

Robbins could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

Police filed the charge, a first-degree misdemeanor that was mailed to Robbins, at the office of District Judge Diana Malast in Plains Township on Monday.

Cat pee is like a lite skunk spray. It's also probably why our neighborly neighbors encourage their pets to use someone else's yard for a litter box. My dog almost killed a little kitten that found it's way into our yard. Fortunately, it made it to a thorny rose bush and I was able to get it and take it home...shaken up a bit. That cat never came back to our yard.

Now that our dogs are deceased, I have some neighborly neighbors cat pissing my children's sandbox. I guess we need a new dog!

One male cat, marking his territory, may keep away five other males doing the same.

The man may have been smarter to find a way to cover his woodpile

Actually, I think it’s kinda like cigarette smoke. Smokers don’t notice the smell as much as non-smokers. If you don’t have a cat, it smells like hell.

Well, since he didn't have enough brain cells to rub together to think that having a puppy while having a baby is not a good idea, I wouldn't expect him to take the puppy dog to a shelter.

You have a gun!!! The world is impressed with your tough guy anti cat stance. Will you be the Patton to lead us against this invasion of 7 lb. rodent hunters?

I bought one of those many years ago. It works like a charm.

It’s simple to drop them off at the county pound. I am no longer bothered by stray cats.

Pretty funny. :)

A shelter, for an animal. You crack me up. I’ve lived in cities all my life. I’ve lived in the Seattle area since 1966. I’ve always thought of animals as animals. Shelters are for human beings.

Yes I own a firearm, however I have not fired a shot at any of the 3 cats that my lousy neighbor refuses to control.

This bad cat owner does not confine his 3 animals to his own property. They are allowed to roam far and wide 24/7 on the property of others. I have seen each of his 3 cats stalking quail, rabbits, young turkeys as well as song birds 400 yards from his property.

A Havahart trap of the appropriate size will not harm the animals and can be used to transport these "rodent hunters" to the local animal humane shelter.

My remarks about firearm safety are always intended for the safety and well being of humans.

One of my uncles served in a tank during WWII. He said the men in Patton's command felt that their chances of survival were better because of their commander.

And if a cat is using the sandbox for a toilet, then the kids don’t need to get anywhere near it. There is a variety of illnesses that can be lurking.

I have never known a cat to only urinate in a sandbox. They just bury the “other” business. Then children find these little hard nuggets while playing in the sand... ugh...

"...The brain of a cat is too small to have any thoughts, it runs on instinct only..."

Well then, it must use that instinct to operate doorknobs. I taught my feral kitteh that skill on accident; she observed me repeatedly opening the door over a few months and began to mimic my actions.

However, that sneaky bastared still can't operate the deadbolt, so I win.

For now.

Problem is - some pounds actually CHARGE you to drop off animals, regardless of where they came from. Drop off your unwanted fido - they charge you. Drop off a “captured” stray - they charge you. Their excuse - it costs them, and they have no way of knowing if that was really your cat (or dog) you are surrendering.

The pound here not only charges when they take them in, but they charge to adopt them as well. The fee includes a base cost, spay/neuter, and annual tags.

This is the same city that charges $5 for annual dog tags (tax as I call it), and $35 if the animal is not spay/neutered.

Yeah...I find those smelly little nuggets in my flower beds and veggie garden! I’ve even had neighbors try to justify it as “fertilizer” but you DON’T put meat eater’s poo in your compost or gardens. I’d rather have the good bullsh*t :D

The trap may be humane, but what do you think happens to that stray cat when you take it to the local “humane” animal shelter?

It is killed.

Why is it a problem that they charge money to drop off an animal? It does cost money to intake an animal, whether for stray-hold, or for immediate killing. Why isn't it reasonable that the person who wants to get rid of that stray animal be required to pay for that service?

Let me use an analogy:

Let's say I think birds are annoying because they eat my blueberries and crap on my windows as they fly by. Let's say I want to get rid of all birds that come onto my property. (a) Should I be allowed to kill every bird that comes on my property, simply because I find them annoying? (b) If I am allowed to kill or remove them, and take them to the local pound, should taxpayers pay for killing them for me, simply because I don't like them? Or should I pay for killing them?

What if we are talking about Deer? Raccoons? Butterflies? Worms? Coyotes? Cats? Children?

Depending on the species, I'm sure each of our answers is different.
