Keary McCarthy, the communications director at Speaker Budish's office, said that the Speaker's decision was consistent with precedent that such a presentation should not be used as a platform for a specific political agenda. It's only a "political agenda" to those who want to kill babies, for the rest of us it's a matter of life and death.

Wow! The ACLU actually supporting civil liberties for someone speaking out for life. You don’t see that everyday.

I don’t see where this has anything to do with a “political agenda.” It is completely a moral issue. I am glad to see, though, that Mr. Budish is getting some publicity out of this. There will no doubt be a number of his constituents who will disagree with him. Should there be enough of those, it will tend to winnow his support away and that is a good thing.

"Surely Speaker Budish can put aside his partisanship for 10 minutes to honor the accomplishments of a talented and optimistic teenage girl," said Ohio Right to Life Executive Director Mike Gonidakis. "Perhaps his real message to Ohio's teens is that excelling in public speaking isn't worth being honored if their views are different than his." The real message is that Democraps dont like optimistic people.
Look at everything they support: Global Warming (Were all gonna Die from the Earth getting hot!), Abortion (Were all going to starve to death because there are too many People), Animal Rights (People are just no darned good), Environmental Movement (were all going to die of cancer because we pollute too much)
I can go on but I think you get the point. The Libs think everything is bad and it is all our fault. The Libs think the whole world is going to the devil.

the refusal amounted to "teaching young people that the answer is to silence those who disagree with us." Get used to it, it's the "Progressive" way. That is to say the Communist way.

I’ve worked with this fine young lady on campaigns in both Ohio and Virginia. Kudos to her for winning the honor, regardless of Speaker Budish’s classless behavior.
I have nothing else to say about Budish or this story that is suitable for a polite audience.

Dear Speaker,
I am writing in hopes that you will reconsider your decision not to allow Elizabeth Tisler to receive recognition for her oratory award due to her pro-life views.
You are setting a poor precedent and that fact that even the ACLU objects to your position should attest to that.
I hope that this type of censorship - for that is what it is, censorship - will be opposed by the office of the Speaker; not encouraged.
Is it your position that only speakers who hold your views can be recognized for oratory awards?
The fact that she is a minor makes the slight even more offensive.
To: wagglebee
consistent with precedent that such a presentation should not be used as a platform for a specific political agenda. But by denying her this honor that she has earned, he is using his platform for a specific political agenda.

This is what we get for electing that RINO Taft all those years ago. That mess got us to where we have liberals clogging up the halls of power with their biased crap.
Hopefully we have learned our lesson and will oust the liberals and elect solid Conservatives to clean up this mess!
