Sadly, it does not come down to mercy. It comes down too, did he have Faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior. If he did not, then at the Great White Throne of Judgment, he will be judged by Christ. If Christ did not know him, then there is only one place that he will be for eternity. We all know where that is. So, it was Murtha's decision in life. Question is, DID he make it?

So very true. Only the Lord knows if he made it or not, but somehow I have the suspicion that hell enlarged itself today with two big lib porkers in less than a year and all. Condolences to his family though.
