It’s the end of an era for Johnstown, PA. Who knows, they might have to build themselves a “real” economy now.

And probably for the DOD as well.

My opinion of Porky is no secret but I’ll wager champagne corks are popping behind certain doors in the “E” ring of the Pentagon even now. I don’t think anyone could have despised him more than the officers who were forced to submit to his schemes and watch vital Defence dollars be funneled to and raked off by him and his cronies.

That kind of corruption costs us more than just money. I’m glad he’s dead and I hope he’s sizzling.

Wow, that’s unexpected. I’d heard he was in for gallbladder surgery, but it didn’t sound like a big thing?

Any invasive abdominal surgery is hazardous when the patient is 77. Rarely fatal, but sometimes it happens.

Condolences to his family. I generally opposed what he stood for, but I imagine he was doing what he thought was correct.

Well, he was a lifer in his seat, entrenched due to the millions upon millions of dollars of pork that he brought in. With the seat vacant, maybe it’s a pickup for the Rs if they play it right. I’ve known people from Johnstown, it’s a working-class area that’s been hammered by the decline of American heavy industry, full of “Reagan Democrats”—Polish- and German-descended folks, blue-collar workers, socially conservative but unionized and generally voting Democratic.

Too bad the people of Penn. didn’t send him home a couple of years ago to sit on his porch and be with his family for a few years of quality time. It would have been better for about 300 million Americans as well.
