Absolutely amazing story. Imagine the numbers who have suffered like this, never to be discovered! I remember when my grandmother was in what they described as vegetative state. I was the only grandchild who visited regularly when she was healthy, from preschool age until she had a series of strokes and I was in my thirties. After the strokes, she was tube fed in a care center and totally unresponsive....except when I would walk in the room, she would sit up in bed. The doctors said it was just an automatic reflex...but the nurses said that was the only time she would respond to anything and I always believed that she understood everything I was telling her.
Yeah, and we liked him better that way.

What a great movie this would make. Profound, pro-life message. With a single story, we could instill in the minds of thousands a healthy reluctance to give up too soon. A movie version of that story, with it’s exploration of fear, profile in courage, and romantic fairy-tale ending, would enjoy a near-universal appeal, and could thereby save many, many lives.
And to remember that Terri Shiavo could communicate and show Emotions with her Mom and Dad and Brother and some of the Nurses and the Scumbag Left Lawyers Forced them to watch their BeLoved Terri die a Horrific Death of Dehydration and Starvation to Please Her Murdering, Psychotic, Abusive “HUSBAND IN NAME ONLY!” Hopefully, GOD will puish the Perpetrators for ETERNITY in HELL!!!!
And use people like him for spare parts.....

This reminds me of “Johnny Got His Gun”, by Dalton Trumbo (sp?). I read it as an assigned book in high school about 45 years ago, and had not thought of it in decades.
