Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather called on President Barack Obama to form a White House commission to help save the press Tuesday night in an impassioned speech at the Aspen Institute.
“I personally encourage the president to establish a White House commission on public media,” the legendary newsman said.
Such a commission on media reform, Rather said, ought to make recommendations on saving journalism jobs and creating new business models to keep news organizations alive.
At stake, he argued, is the very survival of American democracy.

All they have to do is look at FOX News and its parent company News Corp. The stock is booming. Their profits and ratings are blowing away the competition. They are proof that it can be done. You simply have to offer something the public wants.

Logical request seeing as Obama controls the alphabet media and much of the printed as well. The only problem with Rather's request is that the majority of Americans have absolutely no trust or interest in the propaganda we are forcefed by these news outlets (In other words Dan Rather, it's already too late to save them - and Rather himself served to destroy any credibility that might have remained).
