DENVER In the last two weeks, more than 100 mostly tiny earthquakes a day, on average, have rattled a remote area of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, putting scientists who monitor the parks strange and volatile geology on alert.

Only the ones who don't watch TV, don't have access to the internet, or never go to the movies.
I’m sure you are aware of this already, but just in case...here’s your ping. Earthquakes in various places...
Not really. They are being given notice by a wider audience.
How many earthquakes did they have in Haiti, since the first big one?
Yes they are. I would direct you to Kart’s posts and information. Haiti has nothing to do with my post, although it does lay on a fault line.
And it would be very difficult to deliver aid, due to all the volcanic ash grounding planes.
Yeah, it will be too bad for this one species.
BTW, 99% of all species that have been on this planet have gone extinct.
How many times would you say lightning strikes the Earth?
How many earthquakes do you think YS has on a monthly average?
I am not trying to dispute there is a swarm of relatively minor Earthquakes going on in YS.
I am saying, try to get some perspective.
>>BTW, 99% of all species that have been on this planet have gone extinct.<<
Yep — we buttered our bread, now have to skate on the razor’s edge.
Scientifically, there is no more improbable thing than the very existence of Humanity. I have to toss that bone to the creationists — God made an incredibly complex set of circumstances to bring us into existence.
But all things must come to an end. When (not if) the YS caldera blows, we shall join our 99% animal brethren.
Swarms of earthquakes happen ever few years in Yellowstone. Its easy to find out the number with usgs.gov
The problem is the swarms are happening in a much greater frequency in Yellowstone. This has been reported in years past about the intensity of earthquake activity.
Haiti is a joke compared to what would happen here if Yellowstone went off, even in a minor way.
This is something to be worried about. Period.
What’s the significance of the colored regions, “beds”?
You are correct in the possible devastation it could cause.
But there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
We, like the rest of life on Earth, are at the mercy of the forces of nature.
If you really want to get worried, read some of the recent threads.

It could mean we are all doomed, it could mean nothing. Only time will tell, and all the worry in the world won’t change a thing.
We are at the mercy of our Lord Jesus. Yellowstone is not to be joked about. He will decide when Yellowstone goes off.
This post scares me more than anything Ive ever seen.
Just amazing!
Yes, He will determine when.
But I have never seen the part in the Bible that forbids "gallows humor."
It's much healthier than worrying about things over which you have no control.
Take a look at the bigger picture.
Here is a good way to see it.
Here is another, fantastic visual way IN 3D.
Download the free program. Unzip it and run it. Takes all of about a minute.

Speaking of control, this program is so cool, and has tons of controls.
