Who was the candidate endorsed by Lech Walesa? How is he doing?

Andrzejewski. He is Polish, so he'll get a surge when returns come in from Cook County, which will be late. He's a dream candidate for Republicans, honestly. He's conservative, so he can get the support of the base, and he's Polish, so he can get a lot of blue collar voters on the south side. Here's to hoping he wins.

In my area..I heard radio ads for Proft several times a day. Rarely heard anything for Andrzejeski. I heard lots for Dillard too. Mostly Proft.

The top seven voting precincts are in northern Illinois. The top one is Chicago. If he's not leading now, he's not going to make it. Too bad. I voted for him.

And you wouldn't believe what I went through to cast a provisional ballot. After filling the provisional affidavit out some woman gave me the pink copy which was my receipt and then put the top copy into the provisional ballot envelope and told me that was all I had to do because it was a "straight ticket" and was about to seal it inside when I told her that I needed a ballot in order to choose which Republican I wanted for each of the offices. She said that was the ballot. I told her, no, that was the provisional voter affidavit. Finally, another woman, a Democrat election judge, found a stack of provisional ballots and gave me one. After voting she told me to put it inside the provisional ballot sleeve and seal it. I asked about the little slip of paper that was supposed to be printed out as the receipt of my ballot. She said, sitting in front of the machine, "Oh, that must be from this machine" and then tried to get it to work. Nothing printed. She said it must be that the roll of printer paper was jammed and pulled the seal off and got a key to open it up. After changing the roll before, they hadn't threaded the paper back through the slot. She couldn't get it through so I helped her by pulling 8 or 10 inches of the roll out and threading it through the slot. She tried it again and it printed.

If I had not earlier called the electoral commission downtown and talked to a very helpful woman named Mary who told me step by step what I had to ask for, do, make sure they gave me, it never would have gotten done.
