If these numbers hold, Kaye Bailey won’t resign her Senate seat unless she wins the primary.

Wasn’t she originally going to resign last fall to run for governor but moved the date to later this spring?

I’m kinda leaning toward Kay Bailey for three reasons.

#1 - In Texas, the Governor’s job is really titular rather than actually powerful.

#2 - We have a decent Lt. Governor and Speaker of the House (who both set the legislative agenda for the State Senate and State House, respectively) to keep her in check.

#3 - It gets her out of the Senate and we can get a decent senator to replace her (can anyone say “Medina”?).

Correct. She originally said the late fall time frame and then changed that to hang around until after Health Care and Cap/Trade was done. So who knows what she’d do if she loses in the primary. Maybe stay the remaining two years as that is what Perry suggested she do and what Cronyn is suggesting also.
