He can have his cake and eat it too. It makes him appear as a more moderate, “reasonable” conservative while getting to avoid the unpleasantness of actually having to make a substantive critique against an unnamed conservative “hero.”

If we’re going to confront the “Hard Right” who are sabotaging the conservative movement’s defense of America we need to do so in a way which will actually accomplish something. (And we also need to weigh how destructive the “Hard Right” broadcasters are in comparison to the “Hard Left” politicians in office.)

BOR does this consistently as well.

I agree with Goldberg on that. He doesn’t have to name names. It’s obvious that there are people who would never support anything Bush does, just like there are people who could never see Bush doing any wrong. Same goes with Obama. I don’t see anything wrong with what he said.

Bernie’s even taken to bashing Hannity.

I guess he and BO’RE are an ‘item’ now. Kissing each other’s rear ends.

Blech.

Maybe Bernie is looking for a job on Communist News Network.

I think Goldberg doesn’t name names because he goes on Hannity sometimes, but I think that he calls him out. I think he meant Hannity in the past when Hannity was all into William Ayers and others. And he has issues with some others. But however his book was dead on.

Here’s where Bernie Goldberg was dead wrong: there is probably NO ONE on either the Right or the Left who thinks to himself, “Dayum, the President is sooooo right about that issue, but I don’t care, I will oppose him on it anyway.”

Not the way it works. Rightly or wrongly, justified or not, legitimately or not, people oppose a president because they believe he’s wrong. That is all. They believe his policies are wrong, his ideology is wrong, the direction he is taking the country is wrong, his decisions are wrong (even if only partially so; that is, even if they agree with him partially, they are still convinced that overall the good points in the decision cannot make up for the bad points or effect).

It will always be so. It is not a question of drinking the Kool-Ade for political spite, even though one is convinced one’s position is wrong and the other side is right. It’s really that people really do authentically believe the other side is wrong.

Acting on one’s authentic beliefs and opinions, no matter how wrong or objectively unfounded, is very different from what Goldberg charged happens on the far Left and Right: that is, that people go AGAINST their authentic beliefs and opinions solely to score political points.

I wonder if the Kraft Foods Company or the town of Hastings, Nebraska gets upset every time the word ‘Kool-Aid’ is used in a derogatory fashion especially since it was Flavor-Aid that was used by Jim Jones? I wonder what the descendants of Edwin Perkins, inventor of Kool-Aid, think?

Always remember that Goldberg was a Democrat when he was working for the main stream media. I see him as a quasi-conservative. Not the real deal.

"He’s (Goldberg) pointing out that the New York Times‘ coverage of the recent arrest of James O’Keefe is far greater than their coverage of the ACORN scandal which O’Keefe unearthed."

I was with Goldberg on this one until he claimed that O'Keefe was pulling "shenanigans" and got caught.

That is where me and Bernie disagree most vehemently. IIRC Bernie used to work for CBS. I wonder if he would claim that 60 Minutes were up to "shenanigans" when they went undercover to record people doing illegal activities?

Bernie was being condescending and BOR was backing him up on that point. O'Keefe was doing the job that the Mainstream Media (including FOX) won't do! He was showing the filthy underbelly of the beast known as Congress!
