A subject of the British crown, eh? Just can’t imagine why the Founders would be leery of someone like that.

Even after we broke free of King George III in 1776, we still had to dodge the royal bullet from others who wanted to rule America before we ratified our Constitution 13 years later.

In between 1776 and 1789, monarchs like Prince Henry of Prussia, and the Bishop of Osnaburgh (2nd son of George III), tried to “invite themselves” to become America’s new king. Europeans of the time could not fathom how a people could exist without a monarch to lead them.

Because of fear of foreign influence — and traitors still loyal to the Royal Crown trying to infiltrate from within like Benedict Arnold — leaders like John Jay (the first Chief Justice), George Washington and others saw the insertion of the “Natural-born citizen” clause as a means to shackle our new republic so foreign nobility and influence could not infiltrate our government’s Executive branch. A rarely known fact is that the NBC requirement was also part of the compromise brokered in summer 1787 to have one person serve in the Executive branch versus having THREE Executors.

Now, fast forward 221 years to 2008 ...

Obama is the first candidate not to accept matching campaign contributions from the Presidential Election Campaign Fund (PECF).

Obama received $778.6 million from the 2008 election — mostly in August and September, with $150 million coming from unidentified donors using untraceable gift cards through his website.

More than 37,000 Obama donations appear to be conversions of foreign currency. Also, more than 2,000 donors had contributed in excess of the $4,600 limit for individuals per election cycle.

One final note ... as Obama did NOT take money from the PECF, he is not subject to any investigation by the FEC as to who, and from where, his campaign money came.

Does that mean as Gore stated there is “no controlling legal authority”?
